It Is Well

That she would feel less than real
When she reveals what is clearer
In her mirror
Take a look around her
Magazines, glamor queens
Waistline dreams in her diary
Nobody told her
That little girls
Don't have to have
The softest curls for love
So what ever's left inside her
Is gonna smile wider, shine brighter
Until she gets pulled under
Is it any wonder
Is it any wonder
That he's obsessed with what is best
And nothing less, he's a hero
With six zeros
Take a look around him
His wallet size and what he drives
Will symbolize how he's made it
How they'll grade it
Nobody told him
That little boys
Don't have to have
The fastest toys to win
So what ever's left inside him
Is gonna keep on tryin', to keep on buyin'
Until he gets pulled under
Is it any wonder
Will somebody tell her
There's a love
That can't be glamorized
Tell him there's a hope
That won't be downsized
Someone tell them
That the billboards lie, all the time
'cause what ever's left inside her
Is gonna smile wider
And what ever's left inside him
Is gonna keep on tryin'
Until they get pulled under
Is it any wonder
Is it any wonder
Is it any wonder
Is it any wonder
What ever's left inside her
Is it any wonder
Is it any wonder
Until they get pulled under
Is it any wonder
In the song βIs It Any Wonder?β by Nichole Nordeman, the artist highlights the insecurities and societal pressures that both women and men face in todayβs world. The first verse focuses on a woman who feels less real and less confident because of the unrealistic and damaging beauty standards perpetuated by magazines and social media. The second verse highlights a man who is obsessed with achieving financial success and material possessions, believing that these symbols will make him a hero. In each verse, the artist questions whether it is any wonder that these individuals struggle to find happiness and fulfillment when the world around them perpetuates harmful messages.
The chorus provides a glimmer of hope as the artist encourages someone to tell these individuals that there is a love and a hope that cannot be glamorized or downsized. The billboards and societal expectations may lie, but there is more to life than superficial standards of beauty and wealth. The song concludes by reminding listeners that whatever is left inside of these individuals will keep them fighting and trying, but ultimately, they must be told the truth by someone who cares.

When we were little...we always said we wanted to grow up...
But now...
We've grown but somehow some of us are regretting it...
Wishing we could go back to those days where our parents would read us a bedtime story...tuck us in bed......
I want to slow down and go back in time to relive those memories again...

My little girl turned 30 today. We celebrated last week when she was in town but that's not the same. Not a day goes by where I don't feel this way.
My little boy turns 33 in 2 weeks. When he was born, "Cats In The Cradle" by Harry Chapin was the song that sent me into tears. This captures even more of that bittersweet feeling.
I sit here crying knowing that while I have awesome relationships with my kids and they are accomplishing great things in life, I do sometimes wish indeed that they could have "slowed down".
I thank you for this incredible song and the unconditional love it portrays.

I remember when I was little and I asked my mom if I could stay with her forever and never move out. Even though you will eventually grow up and want to move out, you'll always remember being a kid and loving your mom so much you never wanted to leave, and she'll remember it too, and they'll be memories to cherish forever. I'm a mom now, and if my daughter tells me she wants to stay with me forever, I'll be really happy even though I know she's going to grow up and get tired of her mom and want to move out. I'll be happy because it's a beautiful memory to have.

Tell your mom this! She would live to here that you want to stay here in this moment with her forever.
