A performer since the age of seven (the age at which he joined the Broadway cast of Annie Get Your Gun), Nicholas made his songwriting debut in 2002, when a holiday tune he'd co-written with his father found its way onto a Broadway Christmas album. A contract with Columbia Records followed two years later. Nicholas began prepping for his solo career by writing material with his older brothers, Kevin and Joseph, who eventually climbed aboard as permanent partners. Nick's solo project thus blossomed into a full-fledged band, and the siblings aptly named themselves the Jonas Brothers.
It took several years for the Jonas Brothers to find an adoring audience. It's About Time, the band's 2006 debut, was a commercial flop, and Columbia Records dropped the group one year later. Signing with Hollywood Records in 2007, the band began attracting new fans -- most of them young and female -- by establishing a presence in the Disney world. They appeared on the network's television shows, earned their own series, starred in a made-for-TV movie with Disney starlet Demi Lovato, and sold close to two million copies of their self-titled sophomore album. They replicated that feat one year later with A Little Bit Longer and returned in 2009 with Lines, Vines and Trying Times. All of the albums featured heavy contributions from Nick, who not only led the songwriting process but also played a wide variety of instruments, from drums to keyboard to guitar.
Taking a rare break from the band, Nick Jonas began working with several other musicians on a side project in late 2009. Members from Prince's New Power Generation were recruited to join the lineup, including Michael Bland and Tommy Barbarella, and the group dubbed itself Nick Jonas & the Administration before making its debut in early 2010 with the album Who I Am. The record performed respectably, peaking at three on the U.S. charts on its way to sales of 151,000, but there were soon suggestions that Nick was planning to return to the Jonas Brothers fold. This didn't happen. A 2013 tour was scrapped just prior to its October launch and, soon afterward, the band split. Nick Jonas regrouped with a 2014 solo tour followed by the November release of an eponymous album. Over the course of 2014, Jonas gained momentum, generating the Top 10 single "Jealous," which also topped Billboard's dance charts, as did "Chains " and "Levels," a bonus track from 2015's Nick Jonas X2.
In the Summer of 2016, Jonas returned with a new full-length effort, Last Year Was Complicated, featuring production by Jason Evigan, Mattman & Robin, Sir Nolan, and others. Included on the album was "Close," a duet with Tove Lo, and "Bacon," featuring Ty Dolla $ign. The album debuted at number two on the Billboard 200. Also around this time, Jonas returned to acting, starring in the erotic thriller Careful What You Wish For and the fraternity hazing drama Goat. In 2017, he released the singles "Remember I Told You," featuring Anne-Marie and Mike Posner, and "Find You." Also that year, he collaborated with Nicki Minaj on the track "Bom Bidi Bom" off the Fifty Shades Darker soundtrack.

In every single color
In every dimension
The crowns are reinvention
And then it′s black, then it's white
And when it is dark, then it′s light
So fill in all the spaces with imaginary places
When no one else sees everything you see
So, for now it is just an illusion, confusion
Unless you're someone who believes
When you look tell me what do you see?
Is it real? Is it fiction?
Only make believe
And they think it′s just a park bench
Look with your eyes, it′s a big circus tent
Full of dancers and clowns
It's all people, just right
Really play the full house, it is daily, twice nightly
We fix ordinary with extra, you see?
Believe believe believe
I don′t need Just to see the fundamental
I only see the white lights, the sunset and the sunrise
And if it is weak, then it's wrong
And just when it′s right, then it's wrong
And everything that I see
It′s nothing like it should be
And yes, it's so frustrating
When no one else sees everything you see
So, for now it is just an illusion, confusion
Unless you're someone who believes
When you look tell me what do you see?
Is it real? Or a mystery scientifically?
It′s more than a bench in a park
Look again, it′s a rocket that's headed for Mars
On a mission to search for new life
When it be back, who knows?
′Cause it's really a long flight
Turn the whole world upside down
And you′ll see
Believe believe believe
Just imagination
And creative speculation
Our lives calling
Was never meant to be boring
Believe believe
Believe believe
Believe believe
Believe believe
Believe believe
Believe believe
Believe believe

The song "Believe" by Nick Jonas explores the idea that reality is subjective and what we perceive is largely based on our beliefs and perceptions. The lyrics express that people often fail to see beyond the surface level and notice the wonders and magic of the world, and sometimes only those who believe are able to perceive the full beauty of the world. The lyrics suggest that people need to use their imagination to see beyond what is visible, and imagine things that are not there or creating imaginary places to fill the gaps. The song ends by emphasizing the need to believe in creativity and making life exciting.
The lyrics of the song are quite metaphorical and encouraging towards the idea of imagination and belief. The lines "And then it's black, then it's white, and when it is dark, then it's light" suggest that things can change and that there is contrast even in the same event, but what's important is to hold on to the belief that everything happens for the best. The line "When no one else sees everything you see, so, for now, it is just an illusion, confusion unless you're someone who believes" means that it's okay if others don't understand what you see as long as you believe in it. The song as a whole encourages people to be creative and imaginative and not just accept the ordinary as it is.

[Verse 1: Nick Jonas]
Every night, every day; how about every lifetime?
Yeah, I know what they say, and that's fine
'Cause I'm here to stay through the good and the bad times
Babe, you send me to space and you're mine, yeah
[Pre-Chorus: Nick Jonas]
Well, call me crazy
And people saying that we move too fast
But I've been waiting, and for a reason
Ain’t no turning back
[Chorus: Nick Jonas]
'Cause you show me something I can't live without
I believe, I believe, I believe
When you hold me, it's like Heaven coming down
I believe, I believe, I believe
[Post-Chorus: Nick Jonas]
That you show me (Show me, show me)
That you show me (Show me, show me)
[Verse 2: Joe Jonas]
Everywhere that I go, feeling you all around me
Now that I got you close, I'm alright
Baby, I didn't know, but I'm glad that you found me
'Cause I'm seeing the most in your eyes, oh yeah, yeah
[Pre-Chorus: Joe Jonas & Nick Jonas]
Call me crazy
People saying that we move too fast (Too fast)
But I've been waiting for a reason
Ain’t no turning back
[Chorus: Nick Jonas]
'Cause you show me something I can't live without (Ah yeah, yeah)
And I believe, I believe, I believe
When you hold me (When you hold me)
It's like Heaven coming down (Mmm, yeah, yeah)
I believe, I believe, I believe
[Post-Chorus: Nick Jonas]
That you show me (Show me, show me), you show me
That you show me (Show me, show me), you show me
[Bridge: Nick Jonas & Joe Jonas]
Doesn't matter anymore, now I got you here with me
Nothing matters any longer, now I got you here with me
I think about you every time I, every time I lose myself again
I lose myself again
[Chorus: Nick Jonas]
'Cause you show me something I can't live without
I believe, I believe, I believe
When you hold me, it's like Heaven coming down
I believe, I believe, I believe
'Cause you show me something I can't live without (Oh yeah)
And I believe, I believe, I believe
When you hold me (When you hold me)
It's like Heaven coming down
I believe, I believe, I believe
[Post-Chorus: Nick Jonas]
'Cause you show me (Show me, show me)
(Show me something I can't live without)
That you show me, no, no
(And I believe, I believe, I believe)
(When you hold me, it's like) Heaven coming down
'Cause you show me (Show me, show me)
I believe, I believe, I believe you

It's all my favorite song that the Jonas Brothers have ever written of all time. "I'm a sucker for all the subliminal things no one knows about you. About you, about you, about you. And you're making the typical me break my typical rules. It's true. I'm a sucker for you, yeah."
