Words like a loaded gun (oh oh, oh oh)
Shot out from a fire tongue (oh oh, oh oh)
Love lost from a fight that was won (oh oh, oh oh)
And I can see you breaking down
The end to a falling out

I got pride, you can't hold your breath
We'll crash down like an avalanche
Look out now, don't take one more step
We'll crash down like an avalanche, avalanche

I never wanted to turn out this way (oh oh, oh oh)
Now forever feels like yesterday (oh oh, oh oh)
Sorry's something that I just can't say (oh oh, oh oh)
Then you see me breaking down
The end to a falling out, yeah

I got pride, you can't hold your breath
(Even if we survive)
We'll crash down like an avalanche
(Crash down, crash down)
Look out now, don't take one more step
(Even if we survive)
We'll crash down like an avalanche, avalanche
(Crash down, crash down)

Oh
We'll crash down, yeah
Oh
Like an avalanche

I got pride, you can't hold your breath
We'll crash down like an avalanche, oh
I got pride, you can't hold your breath
(Even if we survive)
We'll crash down like an avalanche
(Crash down, crash down)
Look out now, don't take one more step
(Even if we survive)
We'll crash down like an avalanche, avalanche
(Crash down, crash down)

Oh
Crash down, crash down

Oh
Just like an avalanche

Overall Meaning

In Nick Jonas' "Avalanche", the lyrics talk about a love lost after a fight that was won. The words spoken were like a loaded gun coming from a fiery tongue, and now they regret the consequences of their actions. They can see the other person breaking down, and they know that this is the end to a falling out. The song expresses the regret of the person who lost their lover and realizes that their pride was too high to admit their mistake. Despite the desire to reconcile and apologize, their ego is still getting in the way, leading to an inevitable crash down like an avalanche.

The lyrics give a feeling of remorse and may reflect the artist's own life experiences. The song can also be interpreted as a warning to take responsibility for one's actions before it's too late. The metaphor of an avalanche is fitting because it's a natural disaster that is unstoppable, just like the unfolding of their relationship.

This land is your land and this land is my land
From California to the New York island
From the redwood forest to the Gulf Stream waters
This land was made for you and me
As I went walking that ribbon of highway
I saw above me that endless skyway
Saw below me that golden valley
This land was made for you and me
I roamed and rambled and I've followed my footsteps
To the sparkling sands of her diamond deserts
All around me a voice was sounding
This land was made for you and me
When the sun come shining, then I was strolling
And the wheat fields waving and the dust clouds rolling
The voice was chanting as the fog was lifting
This land was made for you and me
This land is your land and this land is my land
From California to the New York island
From the redwood forest to the Gulf Stream waters
This land was made for you and me
When the sun come shining, then I was strolling
And the wheat fields waving and the dust clouds rolling
The voice come a-chanting and the fog was lifting
This land was made for you and me 🎶

When its slide like that down the mountain you can still escape because you're more likely to stay on top, its when its start getting violent and cloudy as it breaks against rocks is when being in it becomes really risky.

Today, I was in the mountains. Tried not to walk in the open areas, to avoid being buried by the snow. I said to myself, “if you stay near the forest, the trees will stop the snow :))) but I was so wrong. As I can see, it goes even higher than a forest.
