Lachey starred in the hit reality television series Newlyweds: Nick and Jessica with his then-wife, fellow pop singer Jessica Simpson, which ran on MTV for four seasons from 2003 to 2005. Lachey and Simpson separated in November 2005 and were divorced on June 30, 2006.
Lachey released his first solo album entitled SoulO in 2003. The album was a commercial failure and only produced two singles, "This I Swear" (the title track for Newlyweds) and "Shut Up". Lachey released his second solo album, What's Left of Me on May 9, 2006. Certified Gold, the album reached #2 on the Billboard 200 and #6 on the Billboard Hot 100. It has thusfar produced two singles, "What's Left of Me" and "I Can't Hate You Anymore".
Aside from making music, Lachey has starred in movies (Bewitched and The Hard Easy) and has made appearances on various television shows (Charmed, Faking the Video, Hope and Faith, Twins and One Tree Hill). He has also been a contributing sportscaster for ESPN's College GameDay. Recently, he has appeared in ads for "Clix", a brand of Axe deodorants.
Lachey is now dating MTV Veejay Vanessa Minnillo, and is rumored to be releasing "Patience" as his next single in January 2009, with a new album coming two months afterward.

Breathing in an open space
Captured by your moment's grace again
There's so much I left behind
Even more that waits in time
Everything's so undefined
I'm standing on the edge of my fear
And I see it clear
Here's my resolution
I'm letting go
All I need to learn is along this road
And I just want to be the best man I can be
Breathe, it's my resolution
Living life without her there
Finding soul is where I stand
And learning how to love again
And all I want is something real
That I can feel
Here's my resolution
I'm letting go
All I need to learn is along this road
And I just wanna be the best man I can be
'Cause here's my resolution
I'm letting go
All I need to learn is along this road
And I just wanna be the best man I can be
Breathe, it's my resolution
My resolution
(Oh oh oh)
The lyrics to Nick Lachey's song "Resolution" speak to the idea of starting fresh and moving forward. The opening lines of "nothing but an empty page, breathing in an open space" suggest a blank slate, almost like a tabula rasa of sorts. The singer seems to be reflecting on things left behind and the uncertainty that lies ahead, but sees potential for growth and improvement in the future ("all I want is something real that I can feel").
The chorus serves as a declaration of sorts, where the singer is letting go of the past and focusing on the journey ahead. "Here's my resolution, I'm letting go" is a clear indication of the singer's desire to move forward and leave the past behind. Interestingly, the focus in the chorus shifts from "me" to "I just want to be the best man I can be," indicating a shift in mindset from a more selfish desire for personal growth to a more altruistic desire to be a better person for the benefit of others.
Overall, the main message of the song seems to be one of hope and positivity, with the singer recognizing the potential for growth and improvement in their life.
