Shut Up
You say you want me
That you hate me
Try to love me want to break me
Guess I'm sleeping on the couch again
You say no, when you mean yes
Now why can't we just
Turn out the light
Forget how to fight
Cause we got tonight
Cause,
When we take our clothes off
Don't you know the world stops
When we touch, when we kiss
When we shut up for a moment
We are minded by the one thing
You on me or nothing
When we touch, when we kiss,
When we shut up
Don't say anything at all
You throw a glass straight at my head
Swear up and down you want me dead
I guess love is in the air tonight
You bite my neck, I pull your hair
Next thing we know, no underwear
Now why can't we just
Turn out the light, forget how to fight
Cause we got tonight
Cause,
When we take our clothes off
Don't you know the world stops
When we touch, when we kiss
When we shut up for a moment (Turn out the light)
We are minded by the one thing (Forget how to fight)
You on me or nothing (We got tonight)
When we touch, when we kiss,
When we shut up
And it just had to be you
When we take our clothes off
Don't you know the world stops
When we touch, when we kiss
When we shut up for a moment (And it just had to be you)
We are minded by the one thing
You on me or nothing
When we touch, when we kiss,
When we shut up (Shut up, shut up, shut up)
Don't say anything at all
Use your tongue to wet your lips
Touch them with your fingertips
Don't say nothing else
Shut up, shut up, shut up, shut up
Only want to hear your breath
Your sigh, your scream, you're nothing less
Don't say nothing else
Shut up, shut up, shut up, shut up
Shut up
When we take our clothes off
Don't you know the world stops
When we touch, when we kiss
When we shut up for a moment (Turn out the light)
We are minded by the one thing (Forget how to fight)
You on me or nothing (We got tonight)
When we touch, when we kiss,
When we shut up
And it just had to be you
When we take our clothes off
Don't you know the world stops
When we touch, when we kiss
When we shut up for a moment (Just shut up, shut up, shut up)
We are minded by the one thing
You on me or nothing
When we touch, when we kiss,
When we shut up (Shut up, shut up, shut up)
Don't say anything at all
The song "Shut Up" by Nick Lachey is about a couple in a volatile relationship. The lyrics express frustration with the constant arguing and fighting, but also the passion that exists between the two. The singer describes the moments when they are intimate and able to shut out the outside world, using sexual tension to quiet their verbal disagreements. The chorus emphasizes the power of their physical connection, and how it can overpower any negative emotions they may be feeling.
The verses of the song detail some of the specific conflicts that arise between the couple, such as miscommunication and physical altercations that seem to stem from their intense feelings for one another. However, the moments when they are physically intimate are depicted as an escape from their issues and a means of bringing them together.
Overall, "Shut Up" is a song that explores the complex emotions and dynamics present in tumultuous relationships. It acknowledges the difficulties that can arise but also recognizes the ways in which physical passion can act as a balm for those issues.

This style in the first album fit him best - sultry, fun and a touch of soul. It still couldn't match up his masterpiece second album though. He's still holding back here.
