You get under my skin
When I'm next to you
You get over
Every little thing you do, I
I was thinking that you never tried to hurt me
But you didn't really want me but I want you
'Cause you haunt me and I felt it from the start
You're going to break my heart
So I tried to play the part
And I knew I had to choose
I've got nothing left to lose
Might as well just tell the truth
You get under my skin
When I'm next to you
You get over
Every little thing you do
I can't get with it
Can't put the blame on you
'Cause you get under my skin
I can't get over you
I was hoping, I was dreaming that I'd wake up
Think about it and I found that I had made up
But my heartbeat tells me it's not true, I want you
Gotta have you, tell me why can't we just start
You want to break my heart
Now you're underneath my skin
And I feel like it's a sin
To let love walk away so fast
I'm not your first, won't be your last
You get under my skin
When I'm next to you
You get over
Every little thing you do
I can't get with it
Can't put the blame on you
'Cause you get under my skin
I can't get over you
Get up, get over, get under
Oh baby you hit me like thunder
Get over, get under, get into
To love you is almost a sin to
You want to break my heart
Now you're underneath my skin
And I feel like it's a sin
To let love walk away so fast
I'm not your first, won't be your last
You get under my skin
When I'm next to you
You get over
Every little thing you do
I can't get with it
Can't put the blame on you
'Cause you get under my skin
I can't get over you
You get under my skin
When I'm next to you
You get over
Every little thing you do
I can't get with it
Can't put the blame on you
'Cause you get under my skin
I can't get over you
Get, get over
Get, get over
Get over
Get, get over
Get, get over
The lyrics to Nick Scotti's song "Get Over" are centered around the theme of a tumultuous relationship. The lyrics describe the singer's conflicting emotions toward their romantic interest - on the one hand, they feel like this person is under their skin and they can’t get over them, but on the other hand, they suspect that this person will break their heart. The singer expresses their desire for this person, despite knowing that getting involved with them may not be the best idea.
The lyrics reflect on the emotional turmoil the singer faces - on the one hand, the singer sees the flaws in the relationship and is aware that they will probably get hurt. On the other hand, they find it difficult to let go of their feelings for the love interest. The line "You want to break my heart, now you're underneath my skin" summarizes this dynamic of wanting someone one knows they can not have.
The chorus repeats the central idea that the love interest gets under the singer's skin and they can't seem to get over them. The lyrics convey a sense of confusion, vulnerability, and desperation as the singer grapples with their feelings.
Overall, the lyrics convey a desperate longing for a relationship that the singer knows is flawed and may cause them pain.
