Say I Wanna Know

Made the best of a bad situation
Maybe, gone and takin'
Somethin' yours for the takin'
Have you ever... Felt trapped
Like you... wanted to stop
Like you... not even gonna make it
Past the corner of the block
Say, I wanna know
Say, I wanna know
Say, I wanna know
Say, I wanna know
Oh there'll be times
That this ol' world can be so demanding
It get hard to find
A little truth 'n understanding
Have you ever... Felt trapped
Like you wanted to stop
Like you...
Not even gonna make
Past the next city cop
Say, I wanna know
Say, I wanna know
Say, I wanna know
Say, I wanna know
I trying and I wanna know
That I'm trying and I wanna know
We trying and I wanna know
We trying and we wanna know
He trying and he wanna know
She's trying and she wanna know
We trying and we wanna know
We trying and we wanna know
We trying and we wanna know
Say, I wanna know
Say, I wanna know
Say, I wanna know
Say, I wanna know
The lyrics of Nick Waterhouse's song, Say I Wanna Know is a reflection of life's experiences and how difficult things can get at times. The singer asks if the listener has ever "made the best of a bad situation," or "felt trapped like you wanted to stop." These lines are relatable as everyone has gone through tough situations where they had to make tough calls or felt like they were stuck with no way out.
The chorus of the song, "Say, I wanna know" can be interpreted as an internal dialogue. The singer is asking himself if he wants to know the answer to the questions he's posing to himself. This can also be extended to the listener, who is being asked to question themselves and their experiences, to understand that they are not alone in their struggles.
The second verse talks about how difficult it can be to find "truth and understanding" in this world. The lines "not even gonna make it past the next city cop" shows that even the smallest of obstacles can seem insurmountable at times. The repetition of the chorus emphasizes the need to know and understand what's happening around us.
Overall, the lyrics of the song are a call for introspection and the recognition that we are not alone in our struggles.
