Theme Song
Nickelodeon Lyrics
Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴
That no one understands
Mom and Dad and Vicky
Always giving him commands
(Bed, twerp)
The doom and gloom up in his room
Is broken instantly
'Cause in reality
They are his oddparents
Fairly oddparents
Wands and wings
Floaty crowny things
Oddparents
Fairly oddparents
Really mod, pea pod
Buff bod, hot rod
Obtuse, rubber goose, green moose, guava juice
Giant snake, birthday cake, large fries, chocolate shake
Oddparents
Fairly oddparents
It flips your lid when you are a kid
with fairly oddparents
(Yeah, right)
like that's gonna happen, poof
The Fairly Oddparents theme song is an upbeat, catchy tune that sets the scene for the beloved Nickelodeon show by the same name. The first verse showcases Timmy Turner, the show's protagonist, as an average kid who is not understood by anyone around him. He is constantly being bossed around by his parents and his babysitter, Vicky. The second line of the verse, "That no one understands," emphasizes the loneliness and isolation that Timmy feels.
The chorus of the song introduces the magical aspects of the show. Timmy's "Odd Parents" are revealed to be a pair of wish-granting goldfish, who break the "doom and gloom" of Timmy's daily life. The chorus then introduces the two main characters of the show, Wanda and Cosmo, listing their magical attributes as "Wands and wings!" and "Floaty Crowny things!" The chorus ends with a description of Timmy's wild and wacky adventures with his odd parents, listing off a series of surreal items such as "Obtuse, rubber goose, green moose, guava juice, giant snake, birthday cake, large fries, chocolate shake!!!"
The last line of the chorus, "It flips your lid when you are a kid with Fairly Odd Parents!" sums up the general theme of the show: that life is never dull or predictable when you have magical beings at your side. The final line of the song, spoken by Vicky, serves as a counterpoint to the optimism of the chorus, reminding audiences that Timmy's magical world is not without its challenges.
