Eliohim
Nicole C. Mullen Lyrics

Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴  Line by Line Meaning ↴

It's been one of those days
Where all my blue has turned to grey
A thunderstorm
Above me forms
And I need sheltering

So Maker of the wind and rain
Can you calm the hurricane
In my soul
Out of control
Or help me face what may

Chorus
I love you
I want you
I need you right now
I can't live without you
Don't wanna learn how
With all of my heart
I surrender I bow
Elohim...Cover me

No matter how hard I try
Nothing seems to satisfy
The deepest part of my heart
Where shallowness resides
'Til I'm so desperate I call Your name
And you revive my soul once again
Of all that I
Crave inside
This can't be denied

Chorus
....Rescue me....Cover me....Forgive me

Overall Meaning

In the first verse of Nicole C. Mullen's song "Elohim," the singer describes a day where everything seemed to go wrong, and all of her happiness, represented by the color blue, turned to sadness and desolation, represented by the color grey. She feels like a thunderstorm is hovering over her, and she's in desperate need of shelter. Turning to the Maker of the wind and rain, she asks if He can calm the storm that's raging inside her soul or help her face it.

In the chorus, the singer expresses her love, need, and desire for God. She declares that she can't imagine living without Him or even learning how to do so. She surrenders her heart to Him and begs Him to cover her, asking to be rescued, covered, and forgiven. Through her lyrics, Mullen conveys the idea that we all have times in our lives when we feel lost and alone, and we need someone to help us through difficult times. In this case, the singer finds solace and refuge in God.
