My Shepherd

And I shall not want
I shall not want
I shall not lack
I shall not do without any good thing
I shall not want
I shall not lack
I shall not do without any good thing
In Green Pastures
He leads me besides the still waters
He makes me to lie down
In Green Pastures
He leads me besides the still waters
I shall not want
I shall not lack
I shall not do without any good thing
I shall not want
I shall not lack
I shall not do without any good thing
So who?
... Can stand against us?
Nicole C. Mullen's song "My Shepherd" is a beautiful and powerful rendition of Psalm 23. In this song, she sings about the Lord as her shepherd who provides for everything that she needs. The lyrics "The Lord is my Shepherd and I shall not want" mean that when the Lord is our shepherd, we lack nothing. We have everything we need in Him. She repeats the phrase "I shall not want, I shall not lack, I shall not do without any good thing" to emphasize that as believers, we have an abundance of all that we need in Christ.
The next part of the song speaks of the Lord's provision for rest and refreshment. Nicole sings "He makes me lie down in green pastures, He leads me beside the still waters." This is a metaphor for how the Lord provides for our emotional and spiritual needs. Just as green pastures and still waters represent rest and peace, the Lord provides us with rest from our burdens and peace in our hearts. Therefore, in Him, we lack nothing and we are always provided for.
In the final part of the song, Nicole asks the question "So who can stand against us?" This question is a rhetorical one that implies that if the Lord is our shepherd, there is no one who can stand against us. The Lord is in control and provides for our every need, so we have nothing to fear.
