Talk About It
Night Riots Lyrics

Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴  Line by Line Meaning ↴

You were feeling overlooked, overlooked
I was hanging I was shook, on your hook
Always about you feeling overlooked, overlooked
Was I ever on your mind? on your mind?
When you left I lost the shine but you were fine
Ask me how I'm feeling
Overlooked, Overlooked
Do you really wanna talk about it?
Do you really wanna know how I feel about it?
After all of these apologies I'm over it
I'm broken but I feel brand new
How you're feeling now is not up to me
Go ahead and take it all cause I'm finally free
After all of these apologies I'm over it

I'm broken but I feel brand new

I'm not living overlooked, overlooked.

Moments that you could have took, overtook
Now I'm starting over, how's it look? how's it look.

Don't wanna talk, I was lost, said you needed space

Hit the ground, turned around, then I found my way
Now you're back, how is that, I'm in better days
Yeah I moved on from loving you

Do you really wanna talk about it?
Do you really wanna know how I feel about it?
After all of these apologies I'm over it
I'm broken but I feel brand new
How you're feeling now is not up to me
Go ahead and take it all cause I'm finally free
After all of these apologies I'm over it
I'm broken but I feel brand new
I'm broken but I feel brand new
I'm broken but I feel brand new
I'm broken but I feel brand new
Do you really wanna talk about it?
Do you really wanna know how I feel about it?
After all of these apologies I'm over it
I'm broken but I feel brand new
How you're feeling now is not up to me
Go ahead and take it all cause I'm finally free
After all of these apologies I'm over it
I'm broken but I feel brand new
Broken but I feel

Broken but I feel
Broken but I feel

Overall Meaning

The lyrics to Night Riots' song "Talk About It" revolve around the theme of moving on from toxic relationships. The first verse mentions how the singer had been overlooked by their partner while being strung along by the partner's hook. The lines "Always about you feeling overlooked, overlooked/Was I ever on your mind?" suggest that the partner was self-centered and never thought about the singer's needs. The second verse shows how the singer had to leave the relationship to find themselves again, saying "Don't wanna talk, I was lost, said you needed space/Hit the ground, turned around, then I found my way." The chorus repeats the question "Do you really wanna talk about it?" and sarcastically tells their ex that they are over the constant apologies and have finally moved on, feeling "broken but brand new."

The overall message of the song is that the singer has moved on and no longer feels overlooked or held back by their toxic relationship. The repeated phrase "broken but I feel brand new" signifies that they have come out stronger after the breakup. The lyrics also suggest that the partner may have returned or tried to reconcile, but the singer is no longer interested and has moved on.

Heard this while at work. Been horribly depressed after having a close friend betray my trust, but I also feel like I've reached the point where I know I'm better than this. A lot of the lyrics here really hit home and helped me work through it. I hope it has the same effect on others with similar struggles.

Man...I feel like I've grown with this band. At every stage of my life during the past 4 years they have had songs that resonated so much with me. At the beginning of my last relationship, when I was beginning to fall in love "Pull me down" spoke to me. When the relationship eventually became abusive and realized I could never trust her again "breaking free" spoke to me and helped me through the break up. Now that time has passed and I have found new love this song speaks to me now. This song has an interesting new sound to it, but I think that's the point. Love this band.

They and their music are wonderful, the problem is that people do not open to other types of musical genres.

Exactly

@MalibuGlassMI

No, it is the record labels and producers. Look back at the industry as a whole and who has come into making the radio decisions.
