The song "I Know a Girl" by No and the Maybes is a playful ode to their love for girls of all shapes and colors. The lyrics are straightforward and celebrate the diversity of women, acknowledging that skinny, curvy, tall or short, and regardless of nationalities, women are beautiful in their own unique way. The opening lines convey a message of admiration for a woman named Aisha, highlighting her beauty and inquiring about her origins. The verses about Adaeze, a Nigerian lady, show that the artist has a global perspective when it comes to their love of women.
The chorus "Me I love girls" is repeated throughout the song, signifying their belief that girls are amazing regardless of what society thinks. They also address the code-switching many people from African countries do when speaking both English and their native language, asking their listeners to embrace their west African roots. The verses about Latina women show that the artist celebrates beauty in all forms, exposing the diverse backgrounds that contribute to the beauty of women.
Overall, "I Know a Girl" is a fun and straightforward song that celebrates the beauty of women and cultural diversity. The lyrics don't impose any specific beauty standards, but rather embrace the notion that there is beauty in every type of women, regardless of physical appearances, origins or skin color.

Rzuciłam moje życzenie do studni Nie pytaj, nigdy nie powiem Spojrzałam na Ciebie kiedy wpadało A teraz jesteś na mojej drodze
Sprzedam swoją duszę za życzenie Grosze i dziesięciocentówki za pocałunek
Nie oczekiwałam tego
Ale teraz jesteś na mojej drodze Uchwyciłam
Twoje spojrzenie
Hej, dopiero Cię spotkałam i to szalone
I wszyscy inni chłopcy chcieliby mnie mieć
Błagam, pożyczam i kradnę
Hej, dopiero Cię spotkałam i to szalone
I wszyscy inni chłopcy chcieliby mnie mieć
I wszyscy inni chłopcy chcieliby mnie mieć

Long, but true, story:
My brother got married in 2012, and after the wedding, there was a party, where my brother in-law was the DJ. And he played this song.
At one point during the party, a girl was looking at me, and she looked just like CRJ, but I thought "I'm not going to say anything. I'm not going to say anything.". But then she came over and asked if I wanted to be closer to the dance floor, and I immediately thought "Okay, I have to say something.". I told her, and she burst out laughing. Then I noticed, in the distance, another girl who looked like CRJ. I said something about her, and the girl I was originally talking to freaked out and ran over and told the other girl about what I said. A few days later, I told my brother about what happened, and he said who the girls were, and that they were his friends. And I believe he said they were going to remember what I told them forever.
I don't know what I would have thought if the DJ didn't play this song, but that just rubbed it in. I think back, and feel like I should have joked "Ladies and gentlemen, we have a special celebrity here!".
I also found it weird that there were two girls that looked like her.

One of the landmark songs of this century so far. The counterpoint of Carly's voice and the orchestral strings is delightful and magnificent. Beautiful. 👌
