Can I Live?
Normal Like You Lyrics
Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴ Line by Line Meaning ↴
until you're there and it's too late
it's too late to find a better way
the time's escape so let's not lie
the stars are brighter on the other side tonight
the clock has died
surely this could not be over
the truth gets old
the walls so hard again these days
as if they knew everything
it's not the case
you know the feeling
when you're burning
cuz you're trying to win
you're hoping for something more
when you look down
you'll find there's just no way to turn
so let's get down
cuz it's time we learned how to fly
there's no pretending happy endings
when we're trapped inside our lives
sometimes you don't know where you are
until you're there and it's too late
it's too late to find the better way
a better way to live
so in the end
we'll look back on distant times
when we began to understand that
life is only what we make of it
you've got to try
and then maybe you'll see why
we try so hard to die
maybe you'll see why
why we try so hard to die
sometimes you don't know where you are
until you're there and it's too late
it's too late to find the better way
a better to live, to bring too deep
The lyrics to "Can I Live?" by Normal Like You express feelings of being lost and trapped in life. The first verse acknowledges the feeling of being unaware of one's situation until it is too late to fix it. The following lines express a sense of hopelessness - that there may not be a better way to live than how one is currently living. The chorus introduces a glimmer of hope and possibility, urging the listener to learn how to fly and make the most of their life. The second verse speaks to the monotony and frustration of everyday life, with walls seeming to know everything and the truth feeling old. The bridge again emphasizes the importance of trying and making the most of life.
Overall, this song is a plea to live life to the fullest and not just settle for the mundane. It acknowledges the difficulty of feeling trapped in a certain way of life but encourages the listener to keep trying and seeking a better way.
