The songwriter quickly becomes a national icon in Belgium, staying at the top of the national album charts for seven weeks. The album easily reaches the platinum status in Belgium and is backed by shows on big music festivals like Werchter, Pinkpop and a sold out club tour. Joost moves to New York to live and work on his second album. In 2004, Another Lonely Soul sees daylight. With Never back down receiving major airplay in Italy, Spain and Portugal, this time the ‘new star’ is rising in other parts of Europe as well.
In 2005 tragedy strikes. During a show in the biggest concert hall of Brussels he stumbles off stage and crushes his heel bone. Total rehabilitation will take two years. Joost struggling with his physical and mental health takes off to Bangor, an isle near the French coast of Brittany. The trip has a healing effect on him and Novastar’s third album Almost Bangor is born. The first singles of the album are Mars needs woman (in Belgium) and Because (in The Netherlands). Since the release of Almost Bangor in 2008, the album achieved a platinum status in Belgium and golden status in The Netherlands.
Joost’s voice has matured beautifully with the years, solid and fragile when needed, taking you by the hand and the heart, floating on clever and inventive arrangements - prominently present but always serving the song. The result is a truly personal sound.
Joost Zweegers is currently working on the next Novastar album.

Novastar Lyrics

is not for the world to see
does bring back the anger
it's crawling deep inside of me
cause you're all I have worth waiting for
left alone once more
what do you intend to do now
when you dance through the night
tonight
you know it's not right
you're not who you are
you're losing it by far
heaven knows I do care
cause you're all I have been living for
now it don't seem so sure
what do I intend to do now
what do I intend to do now
do now, do now
when you dance for
when you dance through the night
tonight
you know it's not right
when you dance for
when you dance through the night
tonight
you know it's not right
The lyrics of Novastar's song "E" explore the complex emotions involved in a failing relationship. The singer is deeply hurt by their partner's actions, which they believe are inappropriate and damaging. The details of what has been done are left vague, but the sense of betrayal is palpable. The singer is struggling to come to terms with the situation, and the anger and sorrow they feel towards their partner is overwhelming.
The chorus of the song is particularly poignant, as it describes the way the singer perceives their partner's behavior as they dance through the night. Although this may seem like a trivial thing, it encapsulates the sense of detachment and disconnection that has come between them. The singer knows that their partner's behavior is not right, and this only serves to deepen their feelings of sadness and confusion.
Overall, the lyrics of "E" are a powerful exploration of the complexities of human relationships, particularly when they go wrong. The song is a reminder that love is not always easy, and that sometimes the pain of loss and betrayal can be overwhelming.
