The songwriter quickly becomes a national icon in Belgium, staying at the top of the national album charts for seven weeks. The album easily reaches the platinum status in Belgium and is backed by shows on big music festivals like Werchter, Pinkpop and a sold out club tour. Joost moves to New York to live and work on his second album. In 2004, Another Lonely Soul sees daylight. With Never back down receiving major airplay in Italy, Spain and Portugal, this time the ‘new star’ is rising in other parts of Europe as well.
In 2005 tragedy strikes. During a show in the biggest concert hall of Brussels he stumbles off stage and crushes his heel bone. Total rehabilitation will take two years. Joost struggling with his physical and mental health takes off to Bangor, an isle near the French coast of Brittany. The trip has a healing effect on him and Novastar’s third album Almost Bangor is born. The first singles of the album are Mars needs woman (in Belgium) and Because (in The Netherlands). Since the release of Almost Bangor in 2008, the album achieved a platinum status in Belgium and golden status in The Netherlands.
Joost’s voice has matured beautifully with the years, solid and fragile when needed, taking you by the hand and the heart, floating on clever and inventive arrangements - prominently present but always serving the song. The result is a truly personal sound.
Joost Zweegers is currently working on the next Novastar album.
Faith
Novastar Lyrics

That is way I feel in need
Open up your heart to me
You're surreal
Faith let me linger on
Faith let me linger
Keep me hanging on
Can we embrace
The love we face
If we let the things we fear
Disappear
Faith let me linger on
Faith let me linger
Keep me hanging on
Hold on to me
There's more than you ever saw
Hold on to me
Yeah because I'm in too deep
How could you hurt me baby
The lyrics of Novastar's "Faith" seem to capture the yearning for a deeper connection in a romantic relationship. The singer feels like they have gone too far emotionally to turn back and expresses a deep need for their partner to open up and show vulnerability. The use of the word "surreal" highlights the intensity of their feelings and emphasizes how important it is to have faith in each other to maintain the relationship.
The chorus repeats the phrase "faith let me linger on" as if the singer is waiting for a sign of commitment from their partner. The repetition of the line "keep me hanging on" suggests that they are holding on to the hope that the love they have faced together can overcome any fears or doubts. The singer then asks if they can embrace the love they have without letting their fears impact it, implying that they have struggled with doubts or baggage from previous relationships.
The final verse is a plea to the partner to hold on to them, implying that the singer has invested a lot in the relationship and is at risk of being hurt. The lyrics show a vulnerability and a desire for a deeper connection, emphasizing how important it is to have faith in each other to make that happen.
