Embody Me
Novo Amor Lyrics

Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴  Line by Line Meaning ↴

Stole, forcefully
Forced from me, your body leaves
Fold to your knees
Your body needs to embody me
Decorated in your bed
Every second that we had was newlywed
Oh, where've you been
All soaked marine, in kerosine
Stow your love with me
My body needs your body heat
Decorated in your bed
Every second that we had was newlywed
Separated in your head
In every present that you had, I was a wreck
Oh, I'm in agony
Your anatomy has gone

And the hold that you had of me
Didn't have any, at all

Overall Meaning

The song "Embody Me" by Novo Amor talks about the pain of losing someone and the desire to be close to them again. The lyrics describe a sense of desperation to have the person's body back in order to feel close to them again. The first verse talks about how the person forcibly took something from the singer, and now that they are gone, the singer's body feels incomplete without them. The lyrics "Your body needs to embody me" emphasize the longing for the person's physical presence.

The second verse talks about the memories shared between the two, every second feeling like a honeymoon. The phrase "All soaked marine, in kerosene" could be interpreted as a metaphor for the heightened emotion and intensity of their relationship. The chorus repeats the idea that the body needs the other person's warmth and intimacy to heal the pain of their absence.

The third verse describes the aftermath of the breakup, with the singer feeling like they are constantly present in the other person's thoughts, but also feeling like a burden. The final lines of the song reveal the singer's struggle to let go of the person, even though they have physically left. The lyrics "And the hold that you had of me, didn't have any, at all" suggest that the attachment was mostly one-sided.

Overall, "Embody Me" is a poignant and hauntingly beautiful song about the complexities of love and loss.

I think Novo Amor is my favourite artist.. literally every song brings tears to my eyes

@alanvelasquez837

Christine Merrifield tears of happiness or sadness?

@poorkitty9232

possibly a bit of both

@pescaderos

Same tho. Would love to know if you recommend any other bands that make you feel such a way? Cheers :)

I think this lyrics of this song picture a pair of lovers who broke up, and one of them, let's assume it's the guy cause Novo Amor is a guy, actually didn't want them to part (stole, forcefully, forced from me, your body leave). And now he thinks of all the moment they shared before and how lovely they have been (every second that we had was newlywed; this sincerely is my favourite line) but at the same time, he's in denial because the memories are too painful (basically the whole last verse, from: I'm in agony...)

@peachiichaii6375

i interpreted it similarly but with death instead of a break up. the way i saw it was the grief of having someone you’re loved with ripped away from you so suddenly and the feelings that come with it, as well as the reminiscing over the memories of before they were stolen away.

@baubaleena

@@peachiichaii6375 I agree, just from the opening line
