In 2006, Number One Gun decided to move on to different projects despite their growing success. A recently posted Myspace bulletin cleared up the state of the band, stating that Schneeweis has a new band called The North Pole Project, Keene and Mallory formed Surrogate, and Sellers plays bass in Armed for Apocalypse.
However, when Schneeweis approached Tooth and Nail about signing his solo project, The North Pole Project, they wanted him to release the album under Number One Gun. So The North Pole Project became the album name instead. It was released on Tooth and Nail on January 15, 2008.
The band's following release, To The Secrets And Knowledge, was a continuation of the one-man project.
In June 2012, Jeff Schneeweis announced on his Twitter that he was developing a new song under the Number One Gun band name. Further posts on Twitter and Facebook revealed that the original lineup would be reuniting to write and record a new full-length album. In July 2012, the band launched a Kickstarter page to help fund their new album and subsequent tour. In addition, the band announced that Stephen Christian, lead singer of the band Anberlin, would collaborate and contribute vocals for at least one song on the album. The album, This Is All We Know, was made available on November 27, 2013, to fans who backed the Kickstarter project, and officially released on January 14, 2014, on Tooth & Nail Records.

Life Is What You Make It
Number One Gun Lyrics

It's too late to turn back
And I know you're so far away
It's too bad all the thing that you might say
I saw the way
I saw the way you move
You never stop to notice what you have
You saw the way
You saw the way I looked at you today
When everyone is sweet, now
[Chorus]
Oh, yeah, nothings gonna change
But everyone is sweet, yeah
You wanna walk away
But life is what you make it
You have to go away
But maybe you'll just wait, yeah
It's time to turn around
Cause everyone is sweet
And I know you had to go
It's too late, it's over
And I know you're so far away
It's too bad all the things that you might say
I saw the way
I saw the way you move
You never stop to notice what you have
You saw the way
You saw the way I looked at you today
When everyone is sweet, now
[Chorus]
This life is never changing
But this life is rearranging
And this life it always goes on and on and on and on
I saw the way
I saw the way you move
You never stop to notice what you have
[Chorus]
And this life is never gonna change
This life is never over
The lyrics to Number One Gun's song Life Is What You Make It explore the idea that life is constantly changing and moving forward, even when we may not want it to. The song speaks of someone who had to leave and how the singer knows it's too late to turn back. They acknowledge the distance between them and the fact that things that were left unsaid can't be taken back. However, in the midst of all of this, the singer saw the way the other person moved and how they never stopped to appreciate what they have. The chorus of the song is a reminder that life is what we make of it, and while things might not change, we have to keep going.
Throughout the song, there is a sense of resignation as the singer accepts that the other person had to go and that life is what it is. However, there is also a sense of hope and determination as the chorus repeats the phrase "life is what you make it." The message of the song is clear: even though life might be difficult and we may have to say goodbye to those we love, we have the power to shape our own lives and make the best of what we have.
Overall, the lyrics to Life Is What You Make It by Number One Gun are a poignant reminder that life is constantly changing and that we must embrace it, even when it's difficult. The song encourages listeners to make the most of their lives and not let circumstances define them.
