In 2006, Number One Gun decided to move on to different projects despite their growing success. A recently posted Myspace bulletin cleared up the state of the band, stating that Schneeweis has a new band called The North Pole Project, Keene and Mallory formed Surrogate, and Sellers plays bass in Armed for Apocalypse.
However, when Schneeweis approached Tooth and Nail about signing his solo project, The North Pole Project, they wanted him to release the album under Number One Gun. So The North Pole Project became the album name instead. It was released on Tooth and Nail on January 15, 2008.
The band's following release, To The Secrets And Knowledge, was a continuation of the one-man project.
In June 2012, Jeff Schneeweis announced on his Twitter that he was developing a new song under the Number One Gun band name. Further posts on Twitter and Facebook revealed that the original lineup would be reuniting to write and record a new full-length album. In July 2012, the band launched a Kickstarter page to help fund their new album and subsequent tour. In addition, the band announced that Stephen Christian, lead singer of the band Anberlin, would collaborate and contribute vocals for at least one song on the album. The album, This Is All We Know, was made available on November 27, 2013, to fans who backed the Kickstarter project, and officially released on January 14, 2014, on Tooth & Nail Records.

But it gets the best of you, best of you
But you know your mouth
Is on the edge of a secret
And you make adjustments for cover
But you want to see it through, see it through
And though you're standing all alone now
But your heart is beating faster
And this isn't what you want
Wake me up, you know I can't stand this
I guess I'll find a way, to try to forget it
Get over this, before you
You say thanks for the notion
And even know that this is true, this is true
It's funny how I always hear you say
That you're okay
I guess you're keeping in level
I haven't heard from you, heard from you
You're probably living in the past
But it won't last, it won't last
Wake me up, you know I can't stand this
I guess I'll find a way, to try to forget it
Get over this, before you
Up and run away, this is pathetic
You stand up straight, know you can't help it
Get over this, control yourself
Lost and been walking forever
Something is wrong
(Something is wrong)
What is this voice inside my head?
How can it be?
(How can it be?)
When all of these things are falling in line
Something is wrong
(Something is wrong)
What is this voice inside my head?
How can it be?
(How can it be?)
When all of these things are falling in line
Something is wrong
(Something is wrong)
What is this voice inside my head?
But how can it be?
(How can it be?)
When all of these things are falling in line
Wake me up, wake me up
This is inside your mind
Wake me up, you know I can't stand this
Wake me up, just try to forget it
Get over this, control yourself
Lost and been walking forever
Trust me, you
will not forget these lyrics anytime soon. "Wake Me Up" by Number One Gun is a powerful song that appears to be about a person who is struggling to conquer their demons.
The first two lines, "You've got a beautiful temper, But it gets the best of you, best of you" signify that there is something special about the person and that they have a temper that they cannot seem to control. The artist proceeds to state that the person knows that they are keeping a secret that is on the edge of their mouth, and they make adjustments for cover. They want to see it through, but they are standing alone now, and it is their fault.
The chorus, "Wake me up, you know I can't stand this, I guess I'll find a way, to try to forget it, Get over this, before you" is about someone who is going through a difficult time, and the singer is asking to be woken up to help make things better. The lyrics depict the pain the person is going through and their desperate need to forget and move on.
The bridge, "Something is wrong, What is this voice inside my head?, How can it be?, When all of these things are falling in line" reveals an internal battle that the person is experiencing. They know something is wrong, but they cannot seem to shake it off, and they feel like they are losing control.
Overall, the song is about a person's struggle to overcome their inner demons and regain control of their life. It is a powerful message of hope and resilience in trying times.
