Before beginning his Country Music career, he tried to break into R&B. Although he was unable to secure a recording contract as a soul singer himself, he did pen several songs recorded by James Carr, including the title songs to Carr's albums "You've Got My Mind Messed Up" and "A Man Needs a Woman."
Known to refer to himself as the "Chocolate Cowboy", McClinton sucessfully marketed his album called 'The Only One' on television long before the practice was commonplace. Featuring his first country chart single 'Don't Let The Green Grass Fool You', a top 40 song in 1972, he considered it to be his finest work.
He died on September 23, 1987 after a year-long battle with cancer.

Go on and do it
Do it, do it 'til you're satisfied
(Whatever it is)
Do it, do it 'til you're satisfied
Go on and do it
Do it, do it 'til you're satisfied
(Whatever it is)
People know just what they'd like to do
Whatever it is you got it, long it pleases you
Make it last as long as you can
When your through it's up to you to try it again
Go on and do it
Do it, do it 'til you're satisfied
(Whatever it is)

The lyrics to O.B. McClinton's song "Satisfied" convey a message of embracing pleasure and doing whatever makes you feel content and fulfilled. The repetition of the phrase "Go on and do it, do it, do it 'til you're satisfied" emphasizes the importance of pursuing what brings you joy and satisfaction, regardless of what it may be.
The song suggests that people already know what they desire and should not hesitate to pursue it. It encourages listeners to indulge in their desires, as long as it pleases them, and to make the experience last as long as possible. The line "When you're through, it's up to you to try it again" further emphasizes the idea that satisfaction is an ongoing process, and it is up to individuals to continuously seek and explore what brings them pleasure.
