This was originally used as Frank's death and that broke our hearts when we see a guy who is hoping there would be civilization left in the UK after the rage virus devastated the country die after saying his final "I'm sorry" and "I love you" to his daughter. And now, we see Don, a guy who became very regretful for leaving Alice to die, saying what would be his final "I'm sorry" and "I love you" to her before turning into a monster who is fighting within his rage, hence the name "rage virus".
