Shadows
O. Chapman feat. Faith Lyrics

Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴  Line by Line Meaning ↴

Shadow's in my room that's where I stay
Shadow's in my room that's where I stay
Shadow's in my room that's where I stay
Shadow's in my room that's where I stay
Girl I love you I tell you every time
Dash front flipped down I just switch sides
Back down ends I wait on your 9
Love you again I’ll tell you this time
Shadow's in my room that's where I stay
Shadow's in my room that's where I stay
Shadow's in my room that's where I stay
Shadow's in my room that's where I stay
I’ll give you something to think about
Just so I know you all around
I wanna know you upside down
I wanna see you take my crown
I never wanna see you down
Try turn me upside down
Girl I love you I tell you every time
Dash front flipped down I just switch sides
Back down ends I wait on your 9
Love you again I’ll tell you this time
Shadow's in my room that's where I stay
Shadow's in my room that's where I stay
Shadow's in my room that's where I stay
Shadow's in my room that's where I stay

Overall Meaning

The lyrics of O. Chapman feat. Faith's song Shadows evoke an atmosphere of introspection and contemplation. The repeated line "Shadow's in my room that's where I stay" hints at a sense of entrapment and an unwillingness to confront the outside world. The shadows, symbolizing the darker aspects of the singer's psyche, seem to be all-encompassing, perhaps reflecting a state of emotional turmoil.

However, amidst this internal struggle, the singer's love for someone is a constant bright light that shines through. As he repeats "Girl, I love you I tell you every time," there is a sense of reassurance and comfort, as if this love is a source of stability and hope in an otherwise confusing world. Some of the lyrics suggest playfulness and flirtation, as when he says "I wanna see you take my crown" or "I’ll give you something to think about," creating a nice contrast to the somber tone of the rest of the song.

Overall, Shadows is a song about finding solace in love while struggling with one's personal demons. The repetition of the line "Shadow's in my room that's where I stay" reinforces the sense of imprisonment, while the mention of switching sides and waiting on someone's 9 suggests a desire for change and growth. Through it all, the singer's love for his partner shines as a beacon of hope.

I'm 26 years old, my brother and I were very close, we worked together, drank, everything. He died in 2018 in a motorbike accident, this was one of his favourite songs, he was 31 when he died. I'm a man but I cry when I listen to this song. Wish I had more time with my brother
