Disappear
ON AIR Lyrics

Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴  Line by Line Meaning ↴

See the rainbow the flowers
How they feel
See the magic
How everything disappears

Birds fly south
How did they know
See the bricks the walls
How they grow

Watch the magic
The magic disappears

See the rainbow witch the flowers
How they go
Watch the magic
How it slowly fades
Rain is coming
How did she say no

Hear the rainbow the flowers
They go

Overall Meaning

The lyrics of ON AIR's song "Disappear" seem to convey a sense of wonder and fascination with the natural world. The opening lines, "See the rainbow, the flowers, how they feel," suggest that the singer is observing the beauty and vibrancy of nature. This could be interpreted as a metaphor for appreciating the small joys and emotions that life can offer.

The following line, "See the magic, how everything disappears," introduces a shift in focus. It suggests that there is something transient and ephemeral about life and the beauty that we experience. Just like magic tricks, where objects or illusions vanish, this line may imply that moments of joy and enchantment can pass by quickly if not embraced and savored.

The next stanza brings attention to birds flying south and the growth of bricks and walls. The line, "How did they know" suggests a sense of curiosity and marvel at how nature, and even inanimate objects, seem to have an instinctual knowledge or innate wisdom. This could symbolize the interconnectedness of all living things and how nature itself possesses a natural intelligence.

The chorus repeats the concept of disappearing magic, emphasizing its transitory nature. It encourages the listener to pay attention to the wonders around them before they vanish. The subsequent lines, "See the rainbow which the flowers, how they go" and "Watch the magic, how it slowly fades," express a bittersweet sentiment. The fading of the magic and the departure of the rainbow and flowers may signify the fleeting nature of happiness or joy, urging the listener to appreciate and hold onto these moments while they last.

The final line, "Rain is coming, how did she say no, hear the rainbow the flowers, they go," continues the theme of impermanence. The rain is personified as a feminine entity saying "no," potentially suggesting the denial or ending of something anticipated or desired. The line "hear the rainbow, the flowers, they go" brings attention to the transient nature of beauty and happiness. By using the sense of hearing, it implies that one can perceive the beauty around them if they truly engage their senses.

Overall, "Disappear" by ON AIR explores the ephemeral aspects of life, urging listeners to cherish the moments of magic and beauty before they vanish. The lyrics evoke a sense of wonder, curiosity, and contemplation towards the natural world and the passing of time.

Great catch, scary one! Would you be okay with me featuring this in my series Weekly Dose of Aviation? Of course you will be credited both in the video and in the description. Thanks!

I remember my first air refueling. The boom operators really dislike when you move to far inside and up. The distance on the boom is normally 12 foot extension, and 6 foot is way inside. Usually, the will punch you off, if you are inside of 9 feet with closure or upward movement. I would suspect that the Co-pilot was flying, and the Pilot not flying (an Instructor pilot) was following on the controls. Transitioning the controls between two pilots usually results in over corrections.

Dad flew on the KC-10 as a mechanic in the 90's and experienced this quite a few times. When it happens, you do an emergency break away: they go down, you go up. One time when they had to do an emergency break away, someone had a case of soda on board that ended up going everywhere.

How does this work if the pilot is already in an induced oscillation? Does the c-135 just pull harder to get away? I mean they were lucky to recover this, it really looks like the Awacs pilot had nearly lost complete control and they definitely pulled negative Gs' to break down that fast. Wonder how angry ground control was after that. Does this happen because of a miscommunication between pilot and boom operator? It looked like the Boom operator got too hasty to make the connection and didn't recognize the ques that would tell him their in a pilot induced oscillation and the pilot of the AWACS got the indicator lights to tell him he had a good connection, which means he would nose down to stay in line, which would just make the oscillation even worse. So would the Boom operator be the one to get chewed out? Or is it still on the pilot of the AWACS?

@Cg23sailor

The probe can extend in and out by a certain amount as the planes will not stay perfectly at the same distance but will vary a little. Fall back too far or push in too close and it will automatically disconnect. Imagine what would happen if the AWACS pushed the probe in to the stops where it would push in no further. Things would break. So if they push in too far it automatically retracts to prevent that.

I was a flight engineer on the E-3 aircraft, this also happen to our flight crew during refueling. Rough air that force the E-3 up, fast action of the pilot and the boom operator keep the aircraft from hitting each other.

I understand. I was a Tinker AFB AWACS pilot from 1999 until 2003. My most challenging mission in my nearly 30-yr career was when I was a brand new AC and nearly couldn't take the gas on a combat sortie over Afghanistan. It was night, we were in the WX with a lot of turbulence and the tanker showed up without an autopilot. I prayed to God after 30 minutes of trying to connect and us going past "bingo" fuel. He answered within a couple of minutes and we hit the southern edge of that low pressure system and the air instantly went smooth and then the tanker got their autopilot to work all within 5 minutes. I immediately hooked up southbound on the "driveway" in Pakistan and once I had taken half the off-load we turned back Northbound back toward Afghanistan again to finish the mission. Praise the Lord!!

@pyro4002

The KC-135's autopilot disconnected. The E-3, being the big 707-type airframe that it is, displaces a sizeable amount of air. When he's flying in close formation with a tanker, that air pushes up on the tail of the tanker. The autopilot corrects for that, but if he gets close enough the amount of pitch the plane needs to stay level exceeds the authority of the autopilot and it disconnects. So technically, yes the E-3 caused it, but the KC-135 pilot could have been more prepared for it.

@dan8532

pyro4002 I heard something about the student pilot's seat not being locked and it reclined backwards causing them to yank on the controls and then the instructor pilot overcorrected causing negative g's. Multiple injuries in the back as some were not wearing seatbelts and hit the roof pretty hard

@calneigbauer7542

@@dan8532hear the student pilot had trim set up for the fuel load and dropped something off his leg went to pick it up and you see the result
