Oasis signed to independent record label Creation Records in 1993 and released their record-setting debut album Definitely Maybe (1994). The following year they recorded (What's the Story) Morning Glory? (1995) with drummer Alan White, in the midst of a chart rivalry with peers Blur. Spending ten weeks at number one on the UK Albums Chart, (What's the Story) Morning Glory? was also an international chart success and became one of the best-selling albums of all time. In addition, it stands as the fifth-best-selling album in the UK and the biggest-selling album in the UK of the 1990s. The Gallagher brothers featured regularly in tabloid newspapers for their disputes and wild lifestyles. In 1996, Oasis performed two nights at Knebworth for an audience of 125,000 each time, the largest outdoor concerts in UK history at the time. In 1997, Oasis released their third album, Be Here Now. It became the fastest-selling album in UK chart history.
Oasis' popularity later declined and McGuigan and Arthurs left in 1999 as Oasis released Standing on the Shoulder of Giants (2000). They were replaced by former Heavy Stereo guitarist Gem Archer and former Ride guitarist Andy Bell. White departed in 2004, replaced by Zak Starkey and later Chris Sharrock. Oasis released three more studio albums, Heathen Chemistry (2002), Don't Believe the Truth (2005) and Dig Out Your Soul (2008). The group abruptly disbanded after the departure of Noel Gallagher in August 2009.
As of 2009, Oasis had sold over 70 million records worldwide. They are among the most successful acts on the UK Singles Chart and Albums Chart, with eight UK number-one singles and eight UK number-one albums. The band also achieved three platinum albums in the US. They won 17 NME Awards, nine Q Awards, four MTV Europe Music Awards and six Brit Awards, including one in 2007 for Outstanding Contribution to Music and one for the "Best Album of the Last 30 Years" for (What's the Story) Morning Glory?. They were nominated for two Grammy Awards.

I'm tryin' to write the line of a story
We believe that everything said is a waste of time
'Cause life is well tried and it bores me
Yeah yeah yeah
In my well paid opinion
But from my crystal gazing eye
There shines a light, like dynamite
Sittin' on a throne will give a bad back to you
Livin' on my own was like a Flashback
To the days when I was lost and lonely
Saying what I said was just a different story
All your lies man they still bore me
There's nothin' wrong with my world
And these things they really don't matter now
I spend my time sittin' on the fence with a mate of mine
I'm tryin' to write the line of a story
We believe that everything said is a waste of time
'Cause life is well tried and it bores me
Yeah yeah yeah
In my well paid opinion
These things they really don't matter
'Cause from my crystal gazin' eye
There shines a light, like dynamite
Sittin' on a throne will give a bad back to you
Livin' on my own was like a Flashback
To the days when I was lost and lonely
Saying what I said was just a different story
All those lies man, they will bore me
There's nothin wrong in my world
And these things they really don't matter
These things they really don't matter now
Sittin' on a throne will give a bad back to you
Livin' on my own was like a Flashback
To the days when I was lost and lonely
Saying what I said was just a different story
All your lies man, they still bore me
There's nothin' wrong in my world
And these things they really don't matter
These things they really don't matter now
Don't matter now
Don't matter now
Don't matter now
Don't matter now
Don't matter now
Don't matter now
Don't matter now
Don't matter now
Don't matter now
The lyrics of Oasis's song Flashbax are about a person who spends their time sitting on the fence, trying to write the story of their life with a friend. They believe that everything said is a waste of time because life is well-tried and boring. The singer's opinion is that these things truly don't matter, but from their "crystal gazing eye," there shines a light like dynamite.
The song's chorus is about how sitting on a throne will give you a bad back and how living on your own is like reliving the days when you were lost and lonely. The singer says that what they said was just a different story and that all the lies still bore them. Finally, the singer says there's "nothing wrong in my world, and these things they really don't matter now."
The song is an introspective look at the singer's opinion on life and the disillusionment they have with it. The character sitting on the fence represents someone who is undecided and doesn't know what they want. The line about sitting on a throne giving you a bad back is a metaphor that speaks to the idea of power corrupting and ultimately hurting those who hold it. Overall, the song is about the mundanity of life and the disappointment that comes with realizing it.

It's because tnis is real music. Real good music.
O' Principe
Cuz it's great. And it's mix of rock n roll, punk, pop, psychedelic...so if you tired of rock n roll songs, you have pop, tired of pop, you have punk etc.

This song changed my whole life. "Sitting on a throne will give a bad back to ya, living on my own was like a flashback to the days when I was lost and lonely.....these things they really don't matter now"...absolutely amazing. The music is just as brilliant.
MrDragonSpirit
Just think it's a B-side.
The feelings, emotions and memories (literally the flashbacks!) this masterpiece brings to my mind are something indescribable.
The melody, the words, the rhythm, the final result and the overall meaning of this extraordinary song...I can just say thank you for the good times, Oasis.
You're gonna live forever

Noel's B-sides and demos and cast-off songs are better than most band's hit singles.

That whistling solo! So simple but so perfect 👌

The reason why this song is so good is because you feel him singing his heart out. He is a fantastic musician.
