Hide Your Love Away
Oasis Oasis Lyrics

Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴  Line by Line Meaning ↴

Here I stand with head in hand
Turn my face to the wall
If she's gone I can't go on
Feeling two foot small

Everywhere people stare
Each and everyday
I can see them laugh at me
And I hear them say

Hey, you've got to hide your love away
Hey, you've got to hide your love away

How can I even try?
I can never win
Seeing them hearing them
In the state I'm in

How could she say to me
"Love will find a way"?
Gather 'round all you clowns
Let me hear you say;

Hey, you've got to hide your love away
Hey, you've got to hide your love away

Overall Meaning

"Hide Your Love Away" is a song by Oasis which was originally written and recorded by The Beatles in 1965. The song is about a man who has had his heart broken by a woman who has left him, and now he feels like he is being laughed at and judged by everyone around him. He doesn't know how to move on and is struggling to cope with his emotions. He feels small and insignificant in the face of his heartbreak and is struggling to find a way to deal with his pain.

The lyrics suggest a feeling of shame or embarrassment, as the singer feels like he needs to hide his love away from others. He is ashamed of his feelings and feels like others will judge him for his vulnerability. The song also touches on themes of loneliness and isolation, as the singer feels like he is alone in his pain.

The acoustic version of the song has a more stripped-down, raw feeling than the original recording. The simple guitar chords and Liam Gallagher's raw vocals give the song a more intimate and emotional feel. The acoustic version highlights the pain and vulnerability of the lyrics and makes them more impactful.

Overall, "Hide Your Love Away" is a powerful song about heartbreak, shame, and vulnerability. The song's raw emotion and simple instrumentation make it a standout track in Oasis's discography.

Nice to hear a faithful cover of a Beatles tune, well done, and without trying to "improve it".

SylentEcho

Haha yeah. People that try to "improve" Beatles' songs are just kidding themselves.

Shag Piece

SylentEcho I wouldn't say that oasis tried to improve beatles songs they just played them in there own style

Can I borrow your dog?

Oasis was good for the Beatles. Ironically I first heard the Beatles by listening to oasis. Love ‘em both and still listen to them now.

Can I borrow your dog?

I have never heard anything truer. My first experience with the Beatles was I Am The Walrus, and fell in love with their sound immediately!!!

Klaus Kiedis

I love how you can hear Noel's smile throughout the song
