Wind
Observe & Control Lyrics

Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴  Line by Line Meaning ↴

And then again I run
I find it quite peculiar
Everything she says
Makes me feel really old

She thinks I'm getting weak
I find it quite amusing
Wasn't she the one
Who told me to be free?
Wasn't she the one
Supposed to nurture me?

All the things I've said and done
The things I've seen
the things I've lost and found
And the wind cries out my name
I think I've lost I think I've won

All the things I've said and done
The things I've seen
They've pushed me to the ground
And the wind cries out my name
To think I've lost though I have won

But then again I run
I find it quite peculiar
Everything she says makes me feel really cold

I tried to tell her but
I found it quite peculiar
That she seems reluctant
To her dreams and fears

Everything she says
Just fills my eyes with tears

Overall Meaning

The song "Wind" by Observe & Control is about the complexities and contradictions in a romantic relationship that has turned sour. The song features a narrator who is running away from a partner who he once loved but now can't stand. The first verse speaks about how the partner thinks he has become weak, and this amuses him because it's her that is supposed to be nurturing him. The singer feels that the partner is trying to control him while he wants to be free, which creates a paradox between their desires. The chorus is about the singer's experiences and emotions, how he has lost and found many things and regardless, the wind still cries out his name. The second verse is about the singer trying to express his feelings to the partner, but she doesn't want to listen. This leads to him feeling cold and the things she says only make him shed tears.

I'm amazed that 30 years ago, you were able to put the pieces together recognizing the significance of the behavior of that 10 pointer. While you were figuring this out, I was sitting in a tree on a couple of 2 x 4s in a monoculture of hardwoods located in the Catskills wondering how the deer could see me when they snorted 50 yards away through the dense canopy. We had no idea about scent, playing the wind and the only time we heard the word "thermals" was what we wore on those cold autumn mornings. You and your contemporaries do a great job in educating the rest of us about the super abilities of these amazing animals. Keep up the good work.

Personally all my biggest bow bucks are morning hunts in early October where I knew where they bedded and knew where they fed and found access and a stand on the route. Plus I can’t imagine sitting out those beautiful early October mornings where all my scouting pays off and I can add to the puzzle by watching deer go about the morning routines. Great insight on this video

Great video! The lessons we learn where we were so close and the visions of these giant bucks getting away is what haunts me!! Thanks for your efforts to make others better hunters Don!

Thanks for the video. You have a real talent for cutting through the bs and explaining things in a simplified manner. Good luck this fall.

Love your diligence. In the USMC they taught us attention to detail... Very much the same with mature bucks!! Love your experience!
