Here I Stand
Off Kilter Lyrics

My mind’s made up now something’s got to pull me through
‘Cause I feel the time is right
To make that change, got to get me through this life
Looking back at days gone by, the things I face now
Trying not to choose a side
‘Cause I knew I had to rise, and nothing no
Here I stand with my back against the wall again
My mind can’t take no more
My heart is strong but there’s something always going wrong
My life is like an open door
Sleepless nights, endless days, wasted time
In life’s never ending maze
‘Cause I feel the time is now, to make that change
Going to get me through somehow
As I was told long ago to choose path, ‘cause I could only make it so
But I knew, afraid to stray, too wrapped up
In what they were gonna say.
Here I stand with my back against the wall again
My mind can’t take no more
My heart is strong but there’s something always going wrong
My life is like
In a world that’s changing, don’t lose sight, stand your ground
Even if you have to fight
Your time will come that unknown day
You can’t let your feelings stand in your way.
Here I stand with my back against the wall again
My mind can’t take no more
My heart is strong but there’s something always going wrong
My life is like
Here I stand with my back against the wall again
My mind can’t take no more
My heart is strong but there’s something always going wrong
My life is like
Yeah
An open door
The lyrics to Off Kilter's song Here I Stand seem to express the singer's frustration with certain aspects of their life and the desire for change. The opening lines of the song indicate an uncertain and indecisive state of mind, but also a determination to push through and make a change. The lyrics suggest that the singer is at a crossroads in life and is trying to navigate through it. Looking back at earlier days, the singer seems to be trying to reconcile with their past decisions and not take sides. The lyrics also indicate a sense of pride and a unwillingness to compromise it.
The chorus of the song repeats the phrase "Here I stand with my back against the wall again" which seem to express a sense of feeling trapped and stuck but also fighting the situation. The lyrics also suggest that the singer faces obstacles in life, and even though their heart is strong, there is always something going wrong. The repeated phrase "My life is like an open door" seems to add to the confusion and uncertainty of the singer's situation. The verses and chorus of the song hint at a message of perseverance, that even in the face of adversity and uncertainty, one must stand their ground and push through to make a difference.
