Tell It to Me
Old Crow Medicine Show Lyrics

I tried to bum a nickel for to buy cocaine
Cocaine’s gonna kill my honey dead
Now won’t you tell it to me
Tell it to me
Drink the corn liquor let the cocaine be
Cocaine’s gonna kill my honey dead
I sniff cocaine before I die
I’d be sniffin’ cocaine if it took my life
Cocaine’s gonna kill my honey dead
Now won’t you tell it to me
Tell it to me
Drink the corn liquor let the cocaine be
Cocaine’s gonna kill my honey dead
Now I sniff cocaine, I sniff it in the wind
The doc he says it’ll kill me but he can’t say when
Cocaine’s gonna kill my honey dead
Now won’t you tell it to me
Tell it to me
Drink the corn liquor let the cocaine be
Cocaine’s gonna kill my honey dead
All them rounders that think they’re tough
But they feed their women on the beer and the snuff
Cocaine’s gonna kill my honey dead
Now won’t you tell it to me
Tell it to me
Drink the corn liquor let the cocaine be
Cocaine’s gonna kill my honey dead
The lyrics in Old Crow Medicine Show's "Tell It to Me" speaks of the dangerous consequences of cocaine use. It starts with the singer stating that he is riding down Fifth Street and Main, trying to bum a nickel for cocaine. He then acknowledges the deadly effects of the drug, saying that it will kill his honey dead. He then repeats the chorus, asking the listener to tell him the truth, to drink corn liquor instead of using cocaine.
The singer continues, admitting that he had used cocaine before and that he would continue to do so until his death. He even says that he would sniff cocaine if it took his life. He mentions that the doctor had warned him, but that he could not say when the drug would kill him.
The last stanza talks about "rounders" who consider themselves tough but feed their women with beer and snuff. The lyrics end with repeating the chorus, hoping that the listener will take the advice and avoid the deadly drug.
Overall, the song is a warning and a plea for listeners to avoid cocaine and its destructive consequences.
