Old Man Luedecke left the big old city of Toronto, met a girl in the Yukon, fell in love, bought a banjo and fell in love again. After a couple of years of love and banjo and the makings of a brilliant performing career in sunny Halifax, he returned to the Yukon with his sweethearts. There he woodshedded. He wrote a ton of songs over the next year and a half. He held regular gigs playing banjo in a gambling hall with can-can girls and in a honky tonk called the Snakepit accompanying piano barnacle Bob. Even made an appearance at the Dawson City Music Festival. After a time, he left again for Halifax to renew musical acquaintances and record his debut CD Mole in the Ground. That CD has become a smash on college radio, was featured on CBC's Atlantic Airwaves and is a hot item in stores and at shows. He continues to live in Halifax and perform there and around the country to ever-wider acclaims. His stage show blends hokum and inspiration into powerful and fun entertainment that will delight young and old. He's still sweet on the girl he met up there in Yukon, and the banjo

Lass Vicious
Old Man Luedecke Lyrics
Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴ Line by Line Meaning ↴
Oh feel that spring fever, pouring through our open eyes
We were meant to be together, and I brush your wrist and sparks fly
I met you in the town of Dawson, where the Klondike river flows
We had sunlight streaming through our bodies, we had restless hearts and restless souls
But
Oh babe you're just my style
Oh babe you're lass vicious
Come and sit with me a while
There was something fateful in our meeting
A fearful power in our eyes
The greatest things start growin'
Before you even realize
That
Oh babe you're lass vicious
Oh babe you're just my style
Oh babe you're lass vicious
Come and sit with me a while
Well we went down to Las Vegas
We blew it up with just a kiss
I declare our love lass vicious
I let them wonder what they've missed
That
Oh babe you're lass vicious
Oh babe you're just my style
Oh babe you're lass vicious
Come and sit with me a while
Oh babe you're lass vicious
Oh babe you're just my style
Oh babe you're lass vicious
Come and sit with me a while
The lyrics of "Lass Vicious" by Old Man Luedecke paint a picture of a passionate, intense romance. The song is steeped in imagery of the natural world from the opening lines, where spring fever is described as "pouring through our open eyes," setting the tone for the sense of wild, uncontainable energy that runs through the track. The singer describes meeting their lover in Dawson, a town situated on the Klondike River, where they shared a potent sense of restlessness together, echoed by the way sunlight "streamed through our bodies." The song's refrain exalts the subject of the lyrics: "Oh babe you're lass vicious/Oh babe you're just my style/Come and sit with me a while."
In true Old Man Luedecke fashion, the use of words like "lass" and "declared" imbue the song with an anachronistic feel, almost as if the singer is telling a story from another era. This, combined with the powerful natural energy present throughout the song, adds to the feeling of timelessness and pure, unbridled passion. Overall, the lyrics of "Lass Vicious" paint a vivid picture of the intensity of a wild, passionate love affair, an experience not often depicted in such a direct way in popular music.
