What a superb place 👌🏻
I'd have loved to have been a fly on the wall back when it was in use, and find out, who, and What, it's True and Full purpose was 🙂
Another crackin video guy's 🙂
Keep up the fantastic work, and Stay Safe out there,
All the Best,
Mark 👍🏻

It's a pretty cool folly. The stone workmanship looks pretty amateur but it still looks cool.
The sword was probably put in there by whoever carved it out. I just found the sword on an auction site and it was sold for £520; the date of the article is 9th december 2020.
'12th-13th century medieval sword
A 12th-13th century medieval English sword
in excavated condition, with large flattened wheel pommel, straight crossguard, double-edged blade with wide central fuller, remaining blade length 50cm,
overall length 68cm
(tip broken, hilt detached)
Notes: This sword was recovered 35 years ago from Caynton Caves near Shifnal. Although local mythology ties this cavern system to the Knights Templar, some historians believe the caves to be 19th century in date. Nevertheless, this sword is a historically interesting find and certainly warrants further research.
Sold for £520'

33 is very significant in a lot of religions as well as science and math. Just to name a few:
In Christianity, Jesus Christ is believed to have been crucified at the age of 33. Moreover, the New Testament mentions the divine name Elohim 33 times in the creation story of Genesis.
In Buddhism, the 33rd level of the heavens, Trāyastriṃśa, is considered the abode of the gods.
In Hinduism, the 33 deities of the Vedas are revered as the gods of creation, preservation, and destruction.
In Sufism, the 33rd step of the spiritual path is considered the stage of annihilation, where one's ego is completely dissolved and union with God is achieved.
It likely predates our knowledge.

Hello! I live in Western Pennsylvania, U.S.A., in the city of Pittsburgh.
Thanks for this video. It was fascinating that through that small hole on the forest floor, exists an ancient, amazing, subterranean world to explore. I've always wondered if C.S. Lewis found a place like this when he was a young lad, to inspire him to write the Christian classic "Lion, Witch & the Wardrobe."
It's quite remarkable how precise the carvings are geometrically speaking. I mean, all they had were candles to see while they hammered and chisled away !!!
Also, I was curious if you could see a refuse pile outside the cave, where they discarded the stone shards. Maybe there was a big, overgrown mound there where they threw them? If there isn't one there, then I wonder what they did with all of the broken pieces?
I also have a question about your English accent, as far as what type it is (Geordie, Cockney, etc.). I am trying to study the different British accents. We have a very unigue accent and lexicon here in Pittsburgh. 😀
Lastly, thank you and your lady friend for taking me and so many others on your journeys. All of your hard work is deeply appreciated. 🙏❤
Sincerely,
Thomas

This is flipping awesome 🏆
Did some research on this afterwards about the sword and whether this cave is a folly or a real deal temple and it appears to now be thought it's definitely a temple, which is completely mind blowing 🤯
This place has 33 arches within which is representative of the 33 years of Christ being alive and at 4:48 you show the baptismal font... this would be a lot of detail and bother to carve out for just a folly to take your guests down into from the Hall, plus follies are generally above ground and who wants their guests to be covered in red sandstone dust after dinner lol? They built follies for a bit of fun and to show off basically...plus it says it's only six foot high in most parts so it's not that comfy is it
Did it feel damp down there? The red sandstone seems to change in colour in different spots but that could be from all the smoke of centuries of burning candles etc?
This is absolutely crazy and needs a preservation order on it tbh, you were so lucky to be able to still get into it... epic explore! Jealous!
The school teacher that found the sword took in into school, and when he left the classroom for a bit the kids decided to give it a bit of a clean (lmfao 🤣) but it's been appraised and is still worth £1,500 ish
Completely cool that this still exists, unbelievable really
Mega thanks!

What an incredible work, the vandalism sickens me.
@bobbihenry913
The workmanship is unbelievable. The graffiti, very disrespectful. Thank you for this video, I loved it.
@sharonbroward2265
Hated seeing all the damage done to this place. People SUCK
@mentalcog2187
A shame vandals ruined the site. Obviously a temple but the floor does not seem to be the original and instead is sediment filled. The entrance is obviously dealing with partial cave in and sediment. It's possible the floor might even be more rock if slowly and carefully excavated. More might be found/learned.
Truly an interesting site and story that leaves you wanting to know more. Again, . . . a shame vandals ruined the site.
