Likened to 松田聖子, she won a singing contest and was signed to a Japanese recording company at the age of 15.
After completing her O-level examinations in Singapore, Olivia moved to Japan to further her studies and career as a solo artist. There, she became a member of a Japanese pop (J-pop) group called Mirai, before she released her bestselling debut, "A Girl Meets Bossa Nova" at only 19.
With her sultry, soulful and innocent vocals, she has since done her reinterpretation of Frank Sinatra's "Quiet Nights of Quiet Stars" as well as other jazz and pop numbers.
Part of the wave of Singaporean talents being exported internationally, Olivia has, by far, been the only pop sensation exported exclusively to Japan, while previous stars such as 陳潔儀, 蔡健雅 and 孫燕姿 have only been exporting to the Greater Chinese market through Hong Kong and Taipei.
In 2009, Olivia signed to Taiwanese company HIM International Music and released her first album under HIM in March of 2010.
Meditation
Olivia Ong Lyrics
Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴ Line by Line Meaning ↴
When you're gone and I'm all by muself
And I need your caress
I just think of you
And the thought of you holding me near
Makes my loneliness soon disappear
Though you're far away
And you are back to stay
I just close my eyes
And the sadness that missing you brings
Soon is gone and this heart of mine sings
Yes I love you so
And that for me is all I need to know
I will wait for you
Till the sun falls from out of the sky
For what else can I do
I will wait for you
Meditating how sweet life will be when you come back to me
Yes I love you so
And that for me is all I need to know
I will wait for you
Till the sun falls from out of the sky
For what else can I do
I will wait for you
Meditating how sweet life will be when you come back to me
Meditating how sweet life will be when you come back to me
The lyrics of Olivia Ong's song "Meditation" express feelings of love, longing, and loneliness. The singer is in a state of solitude and missing their significant other, but finds comfort in thinking about them. The thought of their loved one holding them close makes the singer's loneliness disappear. Despite being physically apart, the singer knows they can always bring their loved one back by simply closing their eyes and recalling memories. The singer declares their love for their partner and expresses their willingness to wait for them, even if it means waiting until the end of time. The lyrics describe the act of meditating as a way to ease the pain of separation and envision a future where the two are reunited.

In my loneliness
I feel lonely when you are not with me
When you're gone and I'm all by myself
I am left alone when you are not around
And I need your caress
I long for your touch
I just think of you
I focus my thoughts on you
And the thought of you holding me near
The idea of you embracing me closely
Makes my loneliness soon disappear
Relieves me of my loneliness in no time
Though you're far away
You are distant from me
I have only to close my eyes
I just need to shut my eyes
And you are back to stay
And you are here with me once again
And the sadness that missing you brings
The sorrow that comes from missing you
Soon is gone and this heart of mine sings
Quickly fades away and my heart sings with joy
Yes I love you so
I truly love you
And that for me is all I need to know
That is all I need to be certain about
I will wait for you
I will patiently await your return
Till the sun falls from out of the sky
Until the end of time
For what else can I do
As there is nothing else I can do
Meditating how sweet life will be when you come back to me
Reflecting on how wonderful life will be upon your return to me
