Born & raised in Lagos, Nigeria he learned to appreciate the diversity of music. With fragments of afro-beat, Jazz and Funk all around him and was drawn to rhythms, scales and melodies of all sorts. His family would say he started singing way before he knew how to talk. Shortly before his 10th birthday Olu's family moved to New York City, opening him up to a world of new beginnings and sounds that sparked a boundless desire to create music. This opportunity finally came in college at SUNY Fredonia University. During a random conversation about wanting to start a band he met a female vocalist by the name of Lauren Williams who shared the same sentiment. By the end of that conversation a band was conceived and the first gig was booked.
Olu became lead singer of the Soul/Alternative group by the name of “DejaVu”. The band proceeded to play in various venues around the New York area, gaining a cult following of college students with an appreciation for soulful music. In April 2010 the band opened for Capitol records recording artist "Bobby V" during his tour stop in western New York. Shortly after upon Gbenga's graduation in May 2010 the group went their separate ways but not before releasing their anticipated "DejaVu" EP as an appreciation to all their supporters.
What's Next? Nothing but growth. Olu moved to Dallas, Texas where he is currently working on an introduction EP entitled "En Contraste" and collaborating with other local artists in the area. His current focus is showcasing his musical talents at as many live performances as he can, showing true talent and performance ability, winning the respect of other musicians around.
Tightrope

Hanging out with your guys
Is it a vibe?
Living through hearts and likes
Carry on with your life
Digital lie
Longing for peace of mind
Give you a piece of mine
Everything on the line, integer in your prime
And I can see the
Pictures on your mirror
Places that you won't go
Oh, I'm jumping on a tightrope
In case you wanna let go
Pictures on your mirror
Places that you won't go
Oh, I'm jumping on a tightrope
In case you wanna let go
For you
I'll step to the unknown for you
Out of my comfort zone for you
I'll wrestle to the bone for you
For you, ohh oh oh
I pray every day
Reveal, reveal that I don't know
How do I escape
This sea, this sea of commotion
Pictures on your mirror
Places that you won't go
Oh, I'm jumping on a tightrope
In case you wanna let go
Pictures on your mirror
Places that you won't go
Oh, I'm jumping on a tightrope
In case you wanna let go
You, you, you, you
(Let's it go, let it go, let it)
Pictures on your mirror
Places that you won't go
Oh, I'm jumping on a tightrope
In case you wanna let go
In the lyrics of Olu Bliss's song "Tightrope," the singer addresses the uncertainty and complexity of a relationship, specifically questioning whether the person they are singing to will reach out to them. The reference to hanging out with friends and asking if it's a good time suggests a desire for connection and communication. The mention of living through "hearts and likes" points to the modern age of social media and the superficial interactions that often come with it, hinting at a longing for deeper, more meaningful connections despite the digital facade.
The repetitive mention of "pictures on your mirror" and "places that you won't go" implies that there are barriers and boundaries in the relationship, things left unsaid or unexplored. The singer feels like they are walking on a tightrope, teetering between holding on and letting go, possibly fearing the unknown consequences of either decision. This sense of peril and vulnerability is echoed in the metaphor of walking on a tightrope, highlighting the delicate balance and uncertainty in the relationship.
The chorus repeats the image of jumping on a tightrope, suggesting a willingness to take risks and step into the unknown for the other person. The lyrics convey a sense of sacrifice and dedication, with the singer expressing their readiness to go beyond their comfort zone and even wrestle with their own inner struggles for the sake of the relationship. The plea for understanding and guidance ("reveal, reveal that I don't know") reflects a desire for clarity and resolution amidst the chaos and confusion that surrounds them.
The song ends with a repetition of the chorus, emphasizing the theme of uncertainty and the precarious nature of the relationship. The final repetition of the words "you, you, you, you" could symbolize the focus and dedication the singer has for the other person, despite the challenges and doubts they face. The overall mood of the lyrics conveys a sense of longing, vulnerability, and a willingness to take risks in the name of love and connection, encapsulating the emotional complexities of navigating a relationship that hangs in the balance.
