A there's a dance spreadin' round like an awful disease
Hully, Hully Gully
Oh well you shake your shoulders and you wiggle your knees
Hully, Hully Gully
This dance goin' round from coast to coast
Hully, Hully Gully
When me an my baby do it, tryin' to do it the most
Hully, Hully Gully

[Chorus]
Momma hully gully, Poppa hully gully,
Baby hully gully too

see man lets take a lesson, alright now
Hully, Hully Gully
Shake your shoulders now, alright
Hully, Hully Gully
wiggle your knees now, come on WAIL now
Moma hully gully, Baby hully gully
You can hully gully too

Well I went to a party now and what did they do?
Hully, Hully Gully
Now everybody's doin' it,now why ain't you?
Hully, Hully Gully
Everybody looks like he's got the space

[Chorus]

Momma hully gully, baby hully
You can hully gully too!

Always thought this was a big hit. It peaked at #72 in Billboard in 1960.

Great song!

I was in a 99 cents store this morning on the way to work and they were playing a Stevie Nicks tune, which I silently acknowledged without much thought, then I went across the parking lot to a Superior supermarket where they were playing pre-'70s oldies, and suddenly this song permeated the store's sound system. Nothing against Ms. Nicks, but I simply got more pure pleasure out of this song. I haven't heard it for a few years, and it's like being reacquainted with an old friend.

Have you ever heard Fleetwood Mac sing live? I think Stevie Nicks was in the group to babysit Lindsey Buckingham, otherwise she would be working at Denny's. Thank the Lord for Sound Engineers who tweaked he voice.

Ahhh...what a pleasure to hear this again. Infectious and irresistible. Thanks, LadyVee. Wish somebody has some video of the Olympics performing live. I remember seeing them in the 60s at the Howard Theater in Washington, DC. They were fabulous.

Amazingly, this classic only climbed to #72 on Billboard's Hot 100 over it's seven week chart run starting February 1, 1960. The same melody (with different lyrics) was rfecorded as "Peanut Butter" by The Marathons, who were actually The Virations uner a flase name. "Peanut Butter" reached #20 on Billboard's Hot 100 charts in 1961.

Groovy! What a great song this is! I've searched and searched forever to find this song and it just popped into my head and went for this song. I forgot it was sung by The Olympics. Thanks again for this video! :)
