On My Way
Omar Naber Lyrics

Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴  Line by Line Meaning ↴

You've all been very kind, but I made up my mind
Now I'm about to leave you all behind
I'm feeling so alone, I'm turning down my tone
Before the rise of sun I will be gone

On my way, I'm never coming back
And I'll pray I'm never gonna crack
World is calling out tonight
Telling me I'll be alright
Lights will guide you through the night

Still hiding in my shell and keeping to myself
I cannot count on anybody else
I'm burning deep inside, I'm giving up the fight
Before the break of dawn I will be gone

On my way, I'm never coming back
And I'll pray I'm never gonna crack
World is calling out tonight
Telling me I'll be alright
Lights will guide you through the night

Ah yeah yeah
Ah yeah yeah
Ah yeah yeah yeah yeah

On my way, I'm never coming back
And I'll pray I'm never gonna crack
World is calling out tonight
Telling me I'll be alright
World is calling out tonight
Telling me I'll be alright

Lights will guide you through the night
On my way

Overall Meaning

The lyrics of Omar Naber's "On My Way" express the theme of departure and isolation from loved ones due to the inner turmoil the singer suffers. The lines, "You've all been very kind, but I made up my mind, Now I'm about to leave you all behind, I'm feeling so alone, I'm turning down my tone, Before the rise of sun I will be gone," signify the singer's decision to leave his loved ones behind despite their kindness, indicating that he is determined to go through with his plan despite the emotional pain it brings.

The lines, "Still hiding in my shell and keeping to myself, I cannot count on anybody else, I'm burning deep inside, I'm giving up the fight, Before the break of dawn I will be gone," reveal that the singer is dealing with inner conflicts that he is trying to face alone. He has lost faith in other people, and is struggling with a problem that he believes nobody else can solve. The lyrics express his determination to leave before sunrise and hints at his feelings of despair and hopelessness.

The overall message of the song is that sometimes in life, we must go through tough times alone, and the nights can be long and dark, but eventually, the lights will guide us through to a better place. Having lost my father to cancer at the end of last year I found this song to be spot on as to the way he went. It really touched me and is song really well.

@saraheartify

I can't understand so maaany bad comments. It is a good song. I'm not saying it because I come from Slovenia, but becouse it's true. It is a beautiful ballad with great voice, with great orchestra behind. In the days I'm hearing just pop music it is great for my ears. A music that give me a hope, inspiration and so many motivation.

@brandonweber6733

I'm here for the music, nothing else. and that speaks for itself, right? he's an awesome musician, folks! admit it!

@_druantia_

The song is not that bad. There are just stronger songs in the ESC this year. But he's still a great singer with a good song.

@andrtym

No, I think his song is pretty unique, unlike the others that were chosen on a semi final. Sweden, Armenia and Belgium did have strong voices, but their songs weren't as memorable. At least it's my opinion

@chrike01

His voice is so clear, it makes the message so much stronger. If this one doesn't end up in the top 10 I'll never watch again :)

@adler8024

Can't knock the guy for never giving up, and this is his best song thus far imo

@sopran21

beautifull song! very emotional! great singer. don't get why people dislike it.
slovenia and bulgeria -best ballads on this year!

@popgoestheworld7318

fingers crossed he'll do it. he's my favorite so far.
