The song "D.N.A." by Omega Vibes speaks to the strong sense of cultural identity and history among Balkans, particularly in relation to the Byzantine Empire. The repeated refrain of "D.N.A." is a reference to the idea that this sense of cultural identity is in their very DNA, something that is inherent and cannot be erased. The lyrics also suggest that if the line on the map marking the Balkans were to disappear, the area would once again become the Byzantine Empire, indicating that the history and culture of this region is deeply intertwined with that empire.
The use of the word "Βυζάντιο" (Byzantine) rather than "Ρωμανία" (Romania) is also significant, as it emphasizes this connection to the Byzantine Empire, which was a continuation of the Roman Empire in the east. The repetition of the refrain underscores the importance of this identity to the Balkans, and the fact that "every Balkan" says it suggests that this is a widely held belief.
Overall, the song "D.N.A." celebrates the rich cultural history of the Balkans, and the strong connection that many people in the region feel to the Byzantine Empire.
