Spellbound
On-The-Go Lyrics
Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴ Line by Line Meaning ↴
To see how the moon dies
Fading away like a ghost
Into the cold light
You know what it feels like
Who would have thought I'd be
Losing all of myself
I'm so easily
Falling under your spell
In the song "Spellbound" by On-The-Go, the lyrics convey a profound sense of emotional vulnerability and the power someone else holds over the singer. The opening lines, "You know what it feels like, to see how the moon dies, fading away like a ghost into the cold light," suggest a feeling of melancholy and loss. The moon, often associated with beauty and tranquility, is fading away, mirroring the emotions of the singer. The metaphor of the moon fading like a ghost implies a sense of invisibility, perhaps feeling unnoticed or unimportant in the presence of someone else.
The repetition of the line "You know what it feels like" throughout the song emphasizes the shared experience and suggests that the person the singer is addressing can relate to the emotions being expressed. It creates a connection and understanding between the two, possibly hinting at a past relationship or shared history.
The second part of the lyrics, "Who would have thought I'd be, losing all of myself, I'm on my knees, I'm so easily, falling under your spell," delve deeper into the singer's state of mind. The line "losing all of myself" indicates a sense of losing their identity or sense of selfhood in relation to this person. The image of being on one's knees suggests a position of vulnerability and submission, as if the singer feels powerless in the face of this person's influence. The phrase "falling under your spell" reinforces this idea of being entranced or captivated by someone's charm or power, reinforcing the sense of the singer's emotional vulnerability.
Overall, the lyrics of "Spellbound" portray a combination of melancholy, vulnerability, and emotional dependency. It beautifully captures the feeling of being under someone's influence, losing oneself in the process, and the struggle to maintain a sense of identity.
