One Way Love
Waiting in the shadows
For your love to shine
All my senses reaching
For some sign of light
Waiting for the answers
That will free my heart and mind

You have kept me drifting
Somewhere far from shore
Clinging to a lifeline
That I can't find anymore
Have I ever told you
"This is not what love is for?"

Am I strong enough to walk away?
Am I brave enough to let it change?
Am I wise enough to mean what I say?
Cause a one way love is no love at all
No, a one way love is no love at all

I can feel the distance
Forming with your words
I feel your resistance
To the things that you have heard
But I know what you're losing
And the lessons we have learned

Am I strong enough to walk away?
Am I brave enough to let it change?
Am I wise enough to mean what I say?
Cause a one way love is no love at all
No, a one way love is no love at all

BRIDGE:
So much we will never know
I'm missing you before I go

Am I strong enough to walk away?
Am I brave enough to let it change?
Am I wise enough to mean what I say?
Cause a one way love is no love at all
No, a one way love is no love at all

Am I strong enough to walk away?
Am I brave enough to let it change?
Am I wise enough to mean what I say?

Cause a one way love is no love at all
No, a one way love is no love at all

Overall Meaning

The lyrics to One Way's song "Mr. Groove" are about a woman who is waiting for love that is not reciprocated. The opening lines paint a picture of someone waiting in the shadows for their love to shine, implying they are in a dark place emotionally. The singer's senses are reaching out for a sign of light, indicating a sense of desperation.

The next lines describe someone that has been drifting and clinging to something they cannot find. The singer asks if she has ever told this person that this is not what love is for, implying that the love is one-sided and the other person is not providing what the singer needs from the relationship.

Throughout the song, the singer questions whether she is strong enough to walk away, brave enough to let things change, or wise enough to mean what she says. The chorus emphasizes that a one-way love is not love at all, suggesting that the singer is ready to move on from this unrequited love.

In conclusion, "Mr. Groove" portrays the struggles of someone in a one-sided romantic relationship. The singer is waiting for love and answers, but ultimately realizes that a one-way love is not love at all.
