Black Snow
Oneohtrix Point Never Lyrics

Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴  Line by Line Meaning ↴

Blind vision, blind belief
Black snow is coming, saw it on TV
No information, no harmony
Yeah, a wave of black snow
A wave of black snow

Nothing comes out of the black snow
Nothing comes to you naturally
Among the ruins; magnetic shadows
Yeah, a wave of black snow
Yeah, a wave of black snow

Return to the Earth, save your family
Nothing created without the seed
Nothing destroyed without the meat
Yeah, a wave of black snow
Yeah, a wave of black snow

House on fire, no need to smoke
Door's gotta open before you go
What's at the bottom of a black hole?
A wave of black holes

Nothing but a bunch of
Unanswered questions lately
A wave of black snow
A wave of black snow
A wave of black snow
A wave of black snow
Yeah, a wave of black snow
Yeah, a wave of black snow

Yeah, a wave of black snow
A wave of black snow

Overall Meaning

The lyrics to Oneohtrix Point Never's song Black Snow are mysterious and intriguing, leaving room for various interpretations. The phrase "blind vision, blind belief" may refer to the tendency of people to follow blindly what they see and hear on TV, without questioning the validity or the consequences of the information they receive. The mention of "black snow" as something that is coming may suggest an impending disaster or catastrophe. The lack of information and harmony may also imply a state of confusion and disorientation caused by the overwhelming flow of information in today's world. The repetition of the phrase "a wave of black snow" creates a sense of doom and helplessness, as if the singer is warning the listeners of an inevitable and unstoppable force.

The line "Nothing comes out of the black snow, nothing comes to you naturally" could indicate that the black snow is not only a physical but also a metaphorical phenomenon, robbing people of their natural abilities and creativity. "Magnetic shadows" may represent the attraction of negative forces or ideas that undermine people's willpower and individuality. The call to "return to the Earth, save your family" suggests a need to reconnect with our roots and basic values in order to survive the challenges of a changing world. The lines "nothing created without the seed, nothing destroyed without the meat" reinforce the idea that everything in life has a cause and an effect, and that we are responsible for our actions and their consequences.

The song ends with a series of rhetorical questions that reflect the uncertainty and confusion of our times. The reference to a "house on fire" may symbolize a situation that is out of control, while asking what's at the bottom of a black hole may allude to the mysteries and the vastness of the universe. The repetition of "a wave of black snow" at the end of the song emphasizes the sense of foreboding and anxiety that pervades the lyrics.

@@the2ndcoming135 was never sure, but was always amused with the idea that the most evil force in the world has programmed us to find it in the most beautiful, affecting art. this is the first time considering that oneohtrix might be representing such an evil, even detected in some of the notes arranged, the emotions, the things..now i am interested in the videos, and sure enough, what i somehow suspected seems to be revealed. the black goo, the halftime show with weakened, the negative spaces containing symbols, the obvious devil here and on the cover of another release, the owl, the supposition of cultish music by previous release, the audio bath he is capable of - and even the reference of black snow, like the graphene everywhere, which will connect the flesh to the ayyy eye

@the2ndcoming135

@@vredtaltveder7966 well, Black can mean a number of things outside of America. Including evil. Which, is why I make people know I’m German first before my skin color. I was blonde before my skin was noticeably Black by definition😆
