Após algumas mudanças de formação e proposta, 2002 veio como um ano de afirmação para o Opallas, que começou a conquistar seu espaço dentro da cena underground carioca. Sendo um dos precursores do emorock no Brasil, numa época em que esse estilo musical era novidade para o público em nossas terras, a banda começa a construir sua identidade. Após alguns shows no Rio de Janeiro e interior, e com um som mais amadurecido, o Opallas entra em estúdio para gravar seu primeiro registro.
Em setembro de 2003 é lançado "Que mal há em chorar por nós dois...", primeiro CD demo do Opallas, que atinge uma ótima distribuição nos shows e na internet, chamando a atenção do público para o feeling cativante empregado nas composições, e um diferencial perante o que estava sendo feito na época dentro da cena musical carioca. Melodias cativantes e um vocal carregado se uniram a letras melancólicas, que expunham acontecimentos e sensações de forma sincera.
Em 2004, a banda sofreu uma forte alteração substituindo seus dois guitarristas e adicionando um tecladista. Foi um momento difícil, porém muito importante, pois viria a modificar e estender as influências do grupo.
Logo se iniciou o processo de composição das músicas para integrar o primeiro full álbum do Opallas. Guitarras muito bem trabalhadas se alinharam perfeitamente com os arranjos de piano, teclado e sintetizadores eletrônicos, enriquecendo o som da banda.
Em agosto de 2004 começa um movimentado processo de gravação.
Após 6 meses gravando, compondo novas linhas de vocais e alterando arranjos de guitarra, baixo e teclado, finalmente fica pronto o primeiro álbum do Opallas: “Incondicional”. Altamente indicado para fãs de bandas clássicas da cena emo/punk rock mundial, como The Get Up Kids, Saves The Day e The Ataris, o álbum “Incondicional” será lançado no final de setembro via Porão do Som Discos, e certamente vem para colocar o Opallas no hall dos grandes nomes do emorock brasileiro.
