After spending his college years at a music conservatory outside of Chicago, PB returned to California and began writing, producing and collaborating with artists such as Eleni Mandell, Thao Nguyen, Tim Booth (James), Lauren Hillman (Kotomi), Emy Reynolds, and Joe Gil. The cast of characters that make up Opus Orange is ever changing – perhaps that is what distinguishes their original sound and spontaneity.
Most recently, PB and Bernard Chadwick joined The Muir Project for their trek along the John Muir Trail. They took the free-spirited creation from the trail to the studio as they composed the soundtrack for The Muir Project's documentary "Mile... Mile And A Half". Diving Bell and Out Of The Shadows are both featured on the upcoming soundtrack slated for release in May 2013.

Opus Orange Lyrics
Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴ Line by Line Meaning ↴
spring time waiting for the
summer it's too hot we
fall back down
balance as tricky as a
tap dance we stumble like
puppets attached to tangled strings
timing is happenstance
rhythm is accident
dancing a chance event
that leaves us breathless
don't you leave a trace - it's dangerous
yes i love you nonetheless
please believe me now
waiting for a convict to confess
put on your cocktail dress
just lay back now
dancing like no one's even watching
just lose yourself inside me
if only for a second now
breaking down the walls
flooding all the towns below us
i don't even care no more
don't you leave a trace - it's dangerous
yes i love you nonetheless
please believe me now
waiting for a convict to confess
put on your cocktail dress
just lay back now
balance as tricky as a
tap dance we stumble like
puppets attached to tangled strings
oh no
don't you leave a trace - it's dangerous
yes i love you nonetheless
please believe me now
waiting for a convict to confess
put on your cocktail dress
just lay back now
don't you leave a trace - it's dangerous
yes i love you nonetheless
please believe me now
waiting for a convict to confess
just take off your cocktail dress
just lay back now
The lyrics of Opus Orange’s song Balance seem to be centered around the idea of achieving balance in the various aspects of life, especially in the context of a relationship. The song starts by acknowledging the effects of winter on a person, followed by the expectation of spring and then the discomfort of the ensuing summer. It ends with the realization that the balance achieved was temporary, as the cycle starts over again with a fall.
The main theme of the song seems to be the elusive nature of balance in life. The lyrics suggest that while we strive to maintain balance, it is a difficult feat to achieve. The image of tap dancing, stumbling, and being attached to tangled strings suggest that balance is often precarious and can be disrupted by anything that throws us off balance, leaving us unsteady and struggling to regain our footing.
The song also touches on themes of vulnerability, trust, and love. The line "don't you leave a trace - it's dangerous" suggests a fear of being hurt or vulnerable, while "yes, I love you nonetheless, please believe me now" indicates a plea for trust in the relationship. The line "waiting for a convict to confess" seems to suggest a desire for honesty and openness in the relationship, even if it comes at a painful cost. Overall, the song urges the listener to embrace the uncertainty that comes with striving for balance and to find peace in the chaos of life.
