Tyhjä Temppeli
Oranssi Pazuzu Lyrics
Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴ Line by Line Meaning ↴
Kuun valossa haihtuvat
Eivät kaipaa lusiferin sanaa
Eivät ne kaipaa
Kätkeäkseen sieluni mustaan
Your shadow's hazy face
Evaporating in moon's light
It does not long
To conceal my soul in black
The lyrics of Oranssi Pazuzu's song Tyhjä Temppeli are profoundly metaphorical, depicting the singer's conflicted inner self, which is tormented by the shadows of their past, and the desire for spiritual liberation. The opening lines, "Varjosi sumeat kasvot/Kuun valossa haihtuvat" paint a vivid picture of the singer's shadowy, indistinct features, which are fading away in the moon's light. This is symbolic of the singer's struggle to come to terms with their identity, as they feel consumed by the darkness, and their sense of self is disintegrating.
However, despite their pain and turmoil, the singer is defiant. They do not long for the words of Lucifer, representing temptation and falsehood, to act as a salve for their wounds. Instead, they seek the truth, even if it is harsh and unyielding, and they refuse to allow the darkness to consume them completely. This is expressed in the line "Eivät ne kaipaa/Kätkeäkseen sieluni mustaan," which means that the shadows do not long to hide the singer's soul in darkness.
Overall, this song is a powerful meditation on the human condition and the struggle for self-awareness and spiritual fulfillment. It is a haunting and evocative piece of music that speaks to the deepest recesses of the soul, and its impact is unmistakable.
