I Met A Girl
Orchestra & Chorus Lyrics

The girl that I marry will have to be
As soft and as pink as a nursery
The girl I call my own
Will wear satins and laces and smell of cologne

Her nails will be polished and, in her hair,
She'll wear a gardenia and I'll be there
'stead of flittin', I'll be sittin'
Next to her and she'll purr like a kitten
A doll I can carry, the girl that I marry must be

Her nails will be polished and, in her hair,
She'll wear a gardenia and I'll be there
'stead of flittin', I'll be sittin'
Next to her and she'll purr like a kitten

A doll I can carry, the girl that I marry must be

Wonderful. Thank you, Ralf. One little boo-boo - the two photos of The Pied Pipers show the post-1944 group with June Hutton. As you probably know, the Pied Pipers who sang with Dick Haymes and Tommy Dorsey in the 1943 calendar number had Jo Stafford as the female singer.

Love these combination of fabulous songs from musicals!!! Great memories. Harmonies forgotten; 2s, 6s, M7s .... wow!

@lantisdel3093

The movies are not complete without these unknown stars.

Your tribute to the MGM vocal groups and the studio Chorus & Orchestra was really wonderful. When "Rhino" records initially released those soundtracks on CD, it was like a miracle to me that all the wonderful background orchestrations and vocal "stems" still existed. Rhino and George Feltenstein at Warner Archives really did a lot of wonderful work preserving all the soundtracks. The sad part is that these are mostly out of print now. The wonderful new technology that exists today (MAL "A.I." technology that they are using to update and remix the Beatles catalogue) would be a perfect reason to go back to these MGM recordings and isolate vocals and instrumentals and give the audio a much needed dynamic audio update. Those musicals COULD sound even better than ever. I hope Warners is considering that. Anyway...your tribute was absolutely sensational and much appreciated. Thanks.

Awe. I love this. Such a great period in choral history. And what a wonderful collection. Thanks for sharing! Made my day

Oh Ralf ... my most sincere and deep thanks for your impeccable taste in creating this video. Congratulations for such an incredible edition and wonderful selection of songs where the wonderful harmonies of the MGM choirs shone with glory in the 40's and 50's. And those amazing original photographs and posters are worth admiring. I am from the early 60's. But I vividly remember many movies that I watched on black and white television, especially I really enjoyed the musicals, and later I admired them even more when I could see them in the glorious technicolor. My only hope is that if humanity is threatened with extinction in the future. Someone as smart as you can save some of these wonderful movies, as proof that humanity did something unique and superb. Once again thank you Ralf for your great work, you have made my heart happy to tears. God bless you

So awesome and classic!! Thank you!

How great to hear the song "Lover" as the opening theme to your video. Lover was a popular song composed around 1932 by Richard Rodgers with lyrics by Lorenz Hart.

Ok Ralf - You seem to share the same love for the gorgeous and lush rich vocal harmonics that I have for your selections (many arranged by the duo of Kay Thompson and Roger Edens in the legendary Freed Unit at MGM) It's interesting, that of the films you have selected here in your compilation, the choices you have made are exactly the same numbers I enjoy the most in the said films. Thank you for this - great background music for me to work to. I will play it often. Wonderful edit too.
