Seven
Our New Year Lyrics

Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴  Line by Line Meaning ↴

I wish we could unroll those days and stretch them out forever. All the nights that would fade as the sky turned grey and the stars disappeared. Do you still remember quiet days? Days that are too soon lost? We were content with our idleness because we knew we were right where we wanted to be. Those days count. We always had a place to call home and familiar faces to catch us when we fell.

Overall Meaning

The lyrics to "Seven" are a reflection on the past and a longing for its simplicity and warmth to continue indefinitely. The first two lines express the desire to hold onto those precious moments where we were carefree and content with our lives. The mention of fading nights and disappearing stars speaks to the transience of time and the fleeting nature of the good times, adding a sense of wistfulness to the song.

The following lines further emphasize the importance of cherishing the simpler days, asking if the listener remembers those quiet moments, which are all too soon forgotten. These peaceful moments are something that cannot be recreated, and the song seems to suggest that we should appreciate them while they last. The lyrics continue with the affirmation that even in that stillness, we were happy and content, and that the memories of those days count for something.

Finally, the song touches upon the comfort and safety of having a home and a supportive community. The familiar faces around us provided a soft place to land and the space to take risks without fear of failure. The song is a reminder of how important it is to cultivate those precious relationships and preserve the memories of simpler times.

Advice for year 7's by a year 10:
-Make sure to have a kit for emergences. Pack pads and tampons if you started your period early.
-On the first day of year 7, be polite and friendly to others.
-Please do not act like you're cool. I made that mistake and I regretted it so bad. Don't act like you're special or popular -you're like everyone else. You will make fun of yourself and it will destroy your self-esteem and confidence.
-If you get lost on the first day of school, please ask for help. Even when you're shy, teachers are really nice when you're new so don't be afraid to ask for directions.
-Be prepared and organised. Make sure you got everything you need before going to school.
-Everything will be okay. It's okay to fall behind during your first term. Make sure to ask for help if you don't understand anything and try to catch up the lessons. It will help for the future.

Good luck on your first day of secondary school!

I’m going into year 9 in September so Im gonna give tips for both genders :)

GIRLS:

I’m the first few weeks don’t wear a lot of makeup to look pretty as some people may take this as a bad sign and bully or make fun of you.

But it’s ok to wear some makeup if you want, although some school dont let pupils wear make up.

This is an important one, please don’t roll up your skirt way far up as you could get dress coded or told off by a teacher.

Ignore the older pupils if they are annoying you, In my school this is mainly the case for boys as when It was the start of year 7 for me I got a lot of people randomly screaming in my face :/

BOTH:

Don’t be the class clown or be disrespectful to your teachers. I know I probably sound like a teacher right now and I can agree some teachers are really annoying but if your nice to them, they are nice to you and if you mess up they will brush it off as a mistake unlike some other rude pupils I knew who always got in trouble, just stay on the good side of the teacher and they normally won’t suspect you.

when your taught about puberty and all that stuff, dont act immature and make jokes, I know it’s the weirdest topic ever having to listen to your teacher explain all this.

If you need help it’s always ok to speak to a member of staff or a designated elder pupil as I know this jump from primary school to secondary may seem scary at first but trust me you will get used to it

DO YOU HOMEWORKS!
I made the mistake of normally leaving my homework’s till last minute, doing art projects and maths homework at 1AM 😅 and I did face the consequences of no sleep and sometimes told off by the teacher. But in the first month or two of year 7 the teacher know you can be scared or feel that this new routine is very unusual and will give you a few extra chances to get on track,

QUICK POINTS:

Don’t be the class clown or the pupil who is always known for getting in trouble as you new teachers either throughout the year or in the next year up will suspect you to mess up and you will most likely be on the bad side of the teacher by the start.

Don’t make jokes in class

Pay attention (I also didn’t do this one and lost marks in my homework’s and exams)

REVISE EARLY - for year 7-8 I would probably start to revise from 3-4 weeks before your exams depending on how familiar you are with each class.

Keep your uniform clean.

BOYS:

Dont make fun of the girls just because you may think they are “weaker” trust me they can gossip and you will get a lot of girls against you.

Tuck your shirt in, you don’t need to it outside during break or lunch because I know it gets hot in uniform during summer time, but tuck your shirt in and clean up your uniform before you go into class as a few of my friends have been doubtlessly told off for this.

Don’t try to act cool or mature to impress to girls, it’s not worth it and they only reason they might be laughing is because they think your not acting mature or being stupid.

So that’s some information (actually a Good amount) for people going into year 7, just let me know if you have any extra questions and I’ll try to answer them all the best I can :)

Well Christmas over now 🎄😭

Send to year 7

I am also going in to 8th grade and for me it was pretty different. My school is considered junior high and it is not to strict but does have some rules.

✨dress code✨
Honestly just wear what you want TO AN EXTENT. Don’t wear super short things it’s not just me saying that. You can get dress coded (typically I wear AT THE SHORTEST to the end of my thumb when wearing shorts) dresses are mostly fine. Don’t show your shoulders much (apparently it’s distracting) for my school you can’t wear spaghetti straps without a jacket. Jeans are fine but it’s best not to wear super holey jeans. Getting your nails done is completely fine (varying on each school) for most it is fine. The only problem nails can get you in trouble in is if you take art, orchestra or band. Some of the art band and orchestra teachers might get onto you because having your nails to long can mess up your behavior and effect your work. But short nails are almost always fine.

✨What not to do✨

• Don’t get into fights
(mostly teachers will try to stop it but most students just watch or record so the teachers might not come quick)

• Don’t vape
(Obviously don’t do this it is terrible for you and your body)

• Don’t fall into peer pressure

• Respect your teachers
(If your listen and respect your teachers you will MOST LIKELY not get into trouble)

✨Tips✨ (VERY IMPORTANT)

1. Relationships are tempting and you are able to do what you want, but one thing to keep in mind is that you don’t have to have a boyfriend/girlfriend. It’s ok to be single. DON’T GO DATING EVERYONE you don’t want to be known as the schools wh*re.

2. Cliques are a common thing in many schools. Cliques can be good and bad. In 7th grade at least in my school there were very many cliques, but it wasn’t good. Everyone in my grade had 6 classes everyday so it’s better to widen your friends. Don’t worry I’m not saying getting rid of your current friends, I am just saying don’t only have one. Try to make more (not new) friends so you have friends in each class.

3. Popularity is not to important. Also causing drama doesn’t make you cool sometimes it makes people hate you. Fitting in is not a very important thing. You don’t need to make yourself better for others. Also popularity doesn’t have a ton to do about looks honestly it’s mostly about athleticism in my opinion. But again you don’t need to be popular.

4. Makeup isn’t to important. Also a tip is don’t wear to much makeup. My school which is a regular public school is completely ok with makeup. Another thing is you don’t need makeup if you don’t want to wear it. It is completely up to you, how your school works, or your family. IF YOU DO decide to wear makeup I believe for 7th and 8th grade the best to wear for a girl is mascara or/highlighter.

5. Try hard. Don’t fall behind in your assignments, if you listen, pay attention, focus, and work hard then you can excel. Everyone can be smart you just have to try. Another thing is, for me 7th grade was a definite east year, it was mostly reviews and was not a huge worry.

6. I saw some comments about doing your hair and honestly people will not care to much. I would say the most common hairstyle is curled hair down. Ponytails are fine for PE/sports or anytime. Here are some more hairstyles your could do. You can do a high bun, low bun, messy bun, high ponytail, regular ponytail, ponytail with twist, braid ponytail, regular braid, French braid, Dutch braid, crown braid, honestly any braid is pretty common, straightened hair, curly hair, wavy hair, natural hair (curly or regular). A tip for wanting wavy or curly hair is pretty easy. There are many ways but u have natural wavy/straight hair and the ones I would recommend are braids (you take a shower at night braid your hair then take it out in the morning your hair should be dry by then also the more braids=tighter curls/waves) I also like the sock wave/curl for this you have to take a shower at night and have DAMP hair then get a long sock that goes to about your elbow and I like to section my hair into 3 parts, you separate the hair and twist one at a time up twist until it goes into the bun then put a sock over it tight-ish to make sure it stays, do that on all of them. You can also just use a curling iron or curlers if you want to do it the easy/long way.

✨Final note✨
Don’t stress 7th grade is pretty easy you can follow these tips for help (or not) it’s ok if you don’t. I hope you guys all have a great school year. Also subscribe for a Q&A. If you have any questions or concerns @ me. Hope this helped. Love y’all ❤❤❤
