Head On
Overhead Lyrics

Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴  Line by Line Meaning ↴

How many lies, hidden in oblivion
I think it's far beyond our ken
Sacrificing minds all over
Spelling tells of the decade
People swallowed by people,
you have no lean on me
and from what I thought and done of you
I guess I should say
"Head on your tracks"
but I'm fading out

How many lines have I been chasing
To gain my related shadow
I've been looking for major falls
They may be such a deal for my way
Millions by consciousness
But you have no lean on me
and from what I thought and done of you

I guess I should say: "Head on your tracks"
But I'm fading out and time goes on.

Overall Meaning

The opening lines of Overhead's "Head on" draw attention to the prevalence of deceit and falsehoods in society. The use of the word "oblivion" suggests that these lies are hidden and unknown to the general population, allowing them to continue unchecked. The lyrics speak to the idea that people are willing to sacrifice their own mental wellbeing and integrity in order to further their own interests and goals. The line "Spelling tells of the decade" is a powerful indictment of our times, highlighting the use of words as weapons of manipulation and control.

The chorus of the song is a call to action, urging the listener to "head on" and keep moving forward, despite the challenges and obstacles they may face. The second verse explores the idea of personal growth and self-discovery, with the lines "How many lines have I been chasing / To gain my related shadow" suggesting a desire to understand oneself and the world more deeply. The use of the phrase "major falls" is intriguing, as it could be interpreted in several ways - does it refer to physical falls or stumbling blocks, or perhaps to major musical chords that represent moments of emotional intensity?

Overall, "Head on" is a complex and thought-provoking song that delves into themes of deception, self-reflection, and perseverance in the face of adversity. Its blend of introspective lyrics, driving rhythms, and soaring guitar solos make it a noteworthy addition to Overhead's catalogue.

Exact.

@Caroline Brun

Caroline Brun

oui, tu as raison... moi cette voix, ces sonorités mélodiques me prennent au coeur !
Groupe français qui plus est !
