Stevie wrote a song about this breakup as well: Dreams. Another fantastic Fleetwood Mac song. I highly recommend that and this entire album for that matter.

This is the definitive rock standard for the 3 male members of the band. Fleetwood's drumming is driving, forceful, front and center of their jam. McVie's bass is superb and powerful. Buckingham is at his best as a lyricist, singer, and talented guitarist. Great F.M. song from one of the best rock albums ever.

3 generations of my family have jammed to this: my parents were 19 when Rumours came out. I was in high school 20 years later when I found it. Thank you. I am trying to love everyone that I meet. I have made more mistakes and been placed in impossible situations. Recently, I was hospitalized for 21 days… but an angle tech from the Philippines without her family gave me the strength to live. My son killed himself. I was in Atlanta when Eric Rudolph bombed the Olympics… my son said that guns were passé for the extremists.. he was in Vegas when 58 we’re gunned down .he wanted to be para military… autism…turned down from Our armed forces I told him we could fight that but he ran away … thank you for your kind response . I can’t imagine them passing this on the.4 th. I told my Dad to not go to church next Sunday and alert security. This will not end very well I am afraid… and I don’t even get why people are angry… I am filling a a report of elderly abuse now… greed and intolerance are just about to pull me under. When I first saw the CD of their performance called The Dance, it was positively riveting. Lindsay Buckingham's guitar work was outstanding as was watching Mick Fleetwood do his wonderful stuff on the drums was wonderful. It was obvious he was enjoying it immensely. Fleetwood Mac have no equal.

My parents bought this album back in the 70's a few years before I was born and we had the Greatest Hits, so I grew up on these songs. They have a coming of age and maturity thing about them.
This song reminds me of when I was spending my early days in the neighbourhood that I was born into when my father was younger than myself and full of dreams and hopes for the future. He more than accomplished those. I remember that life so well and times were definitely simpler but I remember how he would host parties for his friends all the time and there would be epic stories and always more than enough food and ever flowing drinks for everyone. More than that I remember the life we had and all the people that came into it as a result, especially my father's old boss who was very much an aristocrat in his demeanour and would sometimes come to our place for supper.
The songs by the Mac take me back to those times immediately and I strive to be like my father.
My father has since passed on and it has been just about 30 years since we last lived in that neighbourhood. But I visited that neighbourhood a couple of years ago and it hasn't changed much apart from how small it now looks to a grown up me. And as I walked around the streets I once called home, I could still feel my father's hopes and dreams for the future that he had when we lived there nearly 40 years ago. They make me sad and happy at the same time.

Rumours is that rare gem that encompasses every human emotion possible. Several songs fit the category of masterpiece; none of them rank lower than great. And while everyone will hear something different, I hear the pounding of Mick's drums in this one to be almost like an exasperated attempt to separate the two quarreling youngsters screaming at each other to go their own way. LOVE IT.

Not to take anything away from Buckingham, but these were 6 tracks spliced together to make the solo. Same thing Eddie Van Halen was doing a few years later. 11 to 12 tracks spliced together, then he would go home and "try" to learn how to play it live.

This reminds me of 94- I was studying to go to university as a mature student ( makes me sound old but no I was 25 and my then bf had just turned me on to the Mac)- I played Rumours back to back while I studied x still gives me goosebumps- the drums 3 midway in!😳❤️

Have you ever found yourself loving someone with all your soul, giving her or him ALL your love and support and then wake up in the morning and crying like a child because for some reason what you believed to be the love of your life choose another way? I know it's a common situation but it hurts a lot and you feel sad to the bone. That's why I am listening to this song. Ok read carefully: this is a messed up world but we can make it better. No super heroes needed here. Just give your smile to someone, speak to a stranger and greet him/ her warmly, do a little action to make someone feel better. You will feel better too. Love this album. Growing up in the 70's, Dad had a girlfriend that brought this record over to play on my phonograph. I said uh dad, this sounds pretty awesome. I can't remember what the girl's name was. Sara, Amanda?

Undoubtedly, Fleetwood Mac's best recording. Written, sung and lead guitar by Lindsay Buckingham, it rates as one one of rock's greatest songs. Fleetwood Mac is not the same without Buckingham.
