And Then Some
Ozzie Nelson Orchestra Lyrics

Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴  Line by Line Meaning ↴

I think you're gorgeous, you're charming,
You're handsome, you're perfect and then some
You've got me dazzled and Frantic,
Excited, romantic and then some

I used to think I was cold as could be
But I'll agree the joke is on me
Quick as a wink I knew I had it bad
If love can drive you crazy
Then I want to go mad, I want to go mad
I'll kiss you, caress you
I'll spoil you and "yes" you, and then some

I'll be your shadow, your slave
Your army and navy and then some
I cross my heart I'll be yours from tonight
You've got me right under your thumb

Cause you're gorgeous, you're charming
You're handsome, you're perfect and then some

2:34 - zeroing in on that distinctive trumpet-baritone sax passage that was featured on so many mid-30s Nelson recordings. So unique!

I learned on Jeopardy that the Nelsons were the only family with three generations with # 1 hits. Ozzie with this one, Ricky with a pair and Ozzie's twin grandsons with one.

My exposure to Ozzie Nelson was in the reruns of their 1950's television comedy and as the father of the popular singer Ricky Nelson. Little did I know that he was one of the most popular bandleaders in the big band era. Great songs from 1935.

I have also heard of the 3 generations of Nelsons with their #1 hits! That got them into the Guinness Book of Records! I just watched Arnold interview of Rick's twins Matthew and Gunner who gave the name and year of Ozzie's hit and so I just found it here. What talented family. But so sad Rick didn't get to stay awhile longer and be involved with his boys music too. I heard the youngest boy Sam also has a band.

Love it!
