Why Did I Ever Like You
P!nk Lyrics

There was a 5.8 earthquake today
And it kinda got me thinking
I'd still have all my hate for you in tact
Even if I lost everything
What did I say
Why are you shaking your head
I may be crazy it's all in my head
But I want you darling gone
Why did I ever like you
What did I see
Whatever it was must have been some kind of illusion
A Magic trick on me
Eh eh eh eh [repeats for a bit]
It's hard to believe I ever laughed at anything you said
Cos you're just not funny
Who would believe I'd let you do all those things
Oh I guess the joke was on me
I tried to be zane
I've even asked all my friends
To help my let it slide
But all I see is your face
In my favourite place
And I can't help but wonder why
Why did I ever like you
What did I see
Whatever it was must have been some kind of illusion
A Magic trick on me
Eh eh eh eh [repeats for a bit]
Yeaaahhheee
I tried to be zane
I've even asked all my friends
To help my let it slide
All I see is your face
In my favourite place
And I can't help but wonder why
Why did I ever like you
What did I see
Whatever it was must have been some kind of illusion
A Magic trick on me
Eh eh eh eh [repeats for a bit]
Tell me why did I
Why did I ever like you
What did I see
Whatever it was must have been some kind of illusion
A Magic trick on me
In "Why Did I Ever Like You," P!nk laments over a past relationship and questions why she ever had feelings for her ex-partner. The song opens with a playful melody of "Barabarabaraadada" perhaps indicating that the situation is not that serious, but the lyrics quickly shift to a serious tone as she shares her thoughts on the relationship. P!nk confronts her partner, claiming that she still hates them and wishes for them to leave. Despite losing everything, P!nk believes that she would still hold on to the anger and hate she has towards her former partner.
P!nk continues to express her confusion and anger towards her ex-partner through lines like, "What did I see / Whatever it was must have been some kind of illusion / A magic trick on me." She cannot fathom what she saw in them to begin with and feels like she was tricked by some sort of love spell. She admits that she once found them funny, but now she sees that she was just blinded by her love for them. Even though she tries to be "zane" and let the relationship go, she cannot seem to move on from the hurtful past.
Overall, "Why Did I Ever Like You" is a relatable and honest song that examines the pain and confusion that comes from ending a relationship. P!nk's raw lyrics capture the anger and heartbreak of trying to move on but being unable to let go of the past.
