P.E.A.C.E. grew up mostly in Los Angeles, California but he stated that he lived in Dallas, Texas for about ten years. In elementary school, he played the accordion for a bit. He picked up the standup bass when he had joined his school's Marching band. When he returned to Los Angeles, P.E.A.C.E. started playing the saxophone.
In an interview, P.E.A.C.E stated he started rapping in his high school years in the mid to late eighties. One of his friend had told him that there was a guy that rapped just like him at the The Good Life named Myka Nyne. Not believing his friend, he went to go check out Myka at The Good Life. P.E.A.C.E. waited around for a while but Myka didn't show up so then he got up on stage and performed for a bit and blew a few whigs back. With no luck at the Life, P.E.A.C.E. had to wait until the next Thursday night. When he returned, Myka was there and P.E.A.C.E. listened to him perform and somewhat agreed with his friend. They both had the fast rapping down but Myka had his own style. Aceyalone was there that night and had asked P.E.A.C.E. what his name was so he told him "Mtulazaji". Aceyalone then asked what his rap name was and he replied with "P.E.A.C.E."

A breakfast for the old souls
At golf clubs you’ll see them
I park their cars and greet them
Dress code is very neat
Rolls-Royces and diamond rings
Protected from the sun rays
Their bodies
Is covered in a leather-like texture
Bathrobes and beauty queens
Portraits of the Kennedys
Sinatra so softly
To the dining room they hurry
Caviar and strange accents
Surgeons are their best friends
The smell of old money
The stench is overwhelming
Old school hotel rooms
Silver service is their main rule
Dress code is very neat
Rolls-Royces and diamond rings
Bathrobes and beauty queens
Portraits of the Kennedys
Dress code is very neat
Rolls-Royces and diamond rings
Bathrobes and beauty queens
Portraits of the Kennedys
The lyrics to P.E.A.C.E.'s song "Mimosa" paint a vivid picture of a luxurious and exclusive social gathering. The song describes mimosas being served at these social events, symbolizing a leisurely breakfast for the "old souls" in attendance. The mention of golf clubs suggests that these gatherings take place in upscale settings, where the singer works as a valet, parking cars and greeting the wealthy guests.
The dress code at these events is described as very neat, indicating a high level of elegance and sophistication. The guests arrive in Rolls-Royces and wear diamond rings, further emphasizing their opulence. The scene is set with shrimp cocktails and heat waves, creating an atmosphere of decadence and indulgence. The guests' bodies are described as covered in a leather-like texture, perhaps alluding to their sun-kissed or tanned skin as a result of their privileged lifestyle.
The song also mentions bathrobes and beauty queens, suggesting the presence of both comfort and beauty at these gatherings. Portraits of the Kennedys are displayed, highlighting the affiliation with powerful and influential figures. Sinatra's music softly plays in the background as the guests hurry to the dining room, revealing a sense of urgency and excitement. Caviar and strange accents further emphasize the exclusivity and international flavor of the event. The line about surgeons being their best friends suggests a connection to the world of plastic surgery, hinting at a culture of vanity and maintaining youthful appearances.
The lyrics evoke the smell of old money, implying a sense of tradition and accumulated wealth. However, the song also alludes to the overwhelming stench that comes with this environment, suggesting that behind the façade of luxury lies a darker side. The mention of old school hotel rooms and silver service emphasizes the nostalgia and formalities associated with this elite social circle.
Overall, "Mimosa" by P.E.A.C.E. captures the essence of an extravagant social gathering, filled with wealthy and influential individuals, luxurious surroundings, and a complex mix of both glamour and underlying issues.
