Top Of The World
P.E.D. Lyrics

Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴  Line by Line Meaning ↴

Dawn comes and you're up
You drink a fast cup
Don't keep them waiting
All systems are go
Far down below
Morning is breaking
And you're ready
You know the routine
You suit up and you board your machine
As all over the world
Eyes are glued to the video screens
There's a hole in the clouds
When you look up tonight
A window that beckons you
Toward the moonlight
The tower counts down
And the moment is right
You take a deep breath
But your chest still goes tight
Alone at the top of the world
Day turns into night
Turns back to day
Twice on the hour
You're far from it now
Light years away
Thin streams of power
Rumbling under your feet
Eagle leaps from the concrete
And the lines fly away
As the pad crumbles under the heat
There's a hole in the clouds...
Armageddon
There's and edge to the wind
Cutting into my skin
And the air's like an icicle
As the night starts to fall
And there's no one around
My ears strain for a sound
As I search through these canyons
So cold and so tall
Armageddon
Oh, no
Armageddon
Came too soon
In this city so proud
Full of noises and crowds
This once was a monument
Now it's a grave
And they warned us about
When reason gave out
Now it's too late for miracles
There's nothing to save
Armageddon

Armageddon
Came too soon

As the launch countdown begins, people all over the world watch the video screens with excitement. When the moment arrives, the astronaut takes a deep breath before blastoff. He's just light-years ahead of everyone else in football. He's so insanely good that even if you take away all the titles and stats, he would still be a one of the best to ever grace the pitch just based on how he and only he plays the game.

And after all that, he's still that kid from Rosario that just loves football. Humble as one can be. With his stature and achievements, most people would be an absolute douchebag no matter what line of life they come from but not this guy. He never did any self fellatio nonsense, never put down others, lives a no drama life, a family man and just genuinely a great great person.

That's why we will never ever see another genius like Lionel Messi on or off the pitch

He's a once in all existence phenomena.

The GOAT
Alien
Magic
Messiah
The God of Football

Gracias por todo Leo. 💙❤

@@EliteEssentials. Multiple players that played with Maradonna have said Messi is better, more consistent while playing in a higher quality environment. As of December 2022, most Argentinians have placed Messi next to Maradonna or even above him.

My dad who is 76 year old was a Pele fan and he saw all the greats from DiStefano, George Best, Jairzinho, Cruyff, Bobby Moore, Rivelino, Peter Shilton, Maradonna and a lot more, a lot lot more.

Me and him watched a random game of Messi one day back in 2010-2011 and since then, even he had said that Messi is just better than everyone else he has seen and again, he was born in 1947 so he has seen basically everyone you or I can think of.

Now he even sends me clips of Messi on WhatsApp as if I haven't seen them. But yeah, you can say that's anecdotal or whatever. You can use whatever emojis or "pessi", it does nothing to me but make me love Messi even more. Because I've watched him for 18 years and I still can't believe how good he is.

Maldini, Raúl, R9, Bergkamp, Ronaldinho, Cafu, Zlatan, Henry, Deco, Rooney, Pirlo, Laudrup, Totti, Alan Shearer, Nesta, Cruyff, Gullit, Buffon, Rivaldo, Mourinho, Klopp, Zidane, De Bruyne, Eto'o, Robben, Lahm, David Silva, Cantona, Zanetti, John Terry and many many more legends of the game have said Messi is just something else entirely.

Messi is The God of Football whether you like or not.

Lionel Messi is something else . You can be as big Ronaldo fan as you want and say he is not your goat because everyone has different criterias . But no one can deny his legacy, incredible records and a playing style truly beyond imagination. My man plays like it's FIFA and still has no ego about it . For everyone who watches football, he is a man to be loved and adored.

@LoopLife42

No messi is statistically the GOAT anything else is just your favorite player. Dont interchange goat and favorite player its not the same. Nobody has accomplished what messi has.

@BI94

@@LoopLife42GOAT is subjective in most sports as it’s personal preference.

@LoopLife42

nope you are a potato. Its only sort of like that cause other sports don't have someone so dominant at every aspect of the sport. When the GOAT excels at every aspect it becomes un arguable fact. Favorite player is personal preference. Cause you might not like watching someone like messi who is so unbelievable and magical, you might prefer a player who has cool hair and celebrates cool. @@BI94

@vibe7416

Makes no sense. You can have a favourite player but a goat is based on facts. The fact is they both played in the same era yet Messi is completely clear in basically every category that matters. Like it used to be ronaldo is better or messi is better but now that messi is undisputed, people say things like appreciate both or that he rigged the game. You can appreciate the two while knowing one is clear

@andrewbunch6599

Messi is the only pure footballer to be a modern day goalscorer how do you beat that 😮😮

@tobaepebinuade5830

All the records that Lionel Messi has, La Liga Golden Boots, European Golden Shoes Ballon Dors La Liga assists La Liga goals his G/A at World Cups etc, I don’t see anybody breaking those records anytime soon and it just shows that all time, he’s a level above a lot of players.

In 2011/12, scoring 91 goals in a calendar year it’s a difficult achievement yet someone who’s known for his playmaking and technical ability managed to score that many goals in a year. As good as Kylian Mbappe and Erling Haaland are, I don’t see any of them touching this record anytime soon even if they continue scoring goals at the rate that they’re doing and hardly get injured. Messi was consistent and prolific throughout the year for club and county and he even had a 12 month span where he scored 100 goals and I can’t believe that he actually did that. That year alone he even outscored teams like Borussia Dortmund PSG and Chelsea Arsenal who indeed actually won the champions league that year. Do you know how good you have to be when you yourself outscored some of the best teams in the world. Last week I read a stat that Andre Onana a goalkeeper has conceded a goal a game this season for club and country while Messi in one season and one calendar year averaged a goal a game. That just tells you how unstoppable he was in his peak being able to score that many goals in one year while being an excellent creator combined with his gifted technical ability.

@DJ-xj8mh

What after 2015…0 champions league
Hard to do something without a great player around him..such a great player can’t do anything for Barcelona after 2015…have been under Neymar and mbappe at psg

@EliteEssentials.

Kylian Can easily break his record if he comes to madrid and i know he will win the laliga and ucl not like messi who played for the record

@user-nj3vx1yt6o

@@EliteEssentials. It won't break anytime soon. Messi broke the record of Gerd Muller in 2011 after 39 years.
