P.R. KANTATEs kreative Vielseitigkeit ist Konzept. Er ist sein eigener Manager und betreibt seit 2006 sein eigenes Label STOCK&STEIN.
Neben der Musik ist er Mitglied des Komikerduos MANNE & GÜNTHER, ist im Radio aktiv und
gibt Musikworkshops.
“Plattenreiter (P.R.)” wörtliche Übersetzung “DiscJockey”. In Jamaica heißt ein Rapper nicht "MC" sondern"DJ". Der Plattenaufleger dort heißt wiederum Selector. "P.R." ist das eingedeutschte Äquivalent für das jamaikanische "DJ". (Die Punkte sind Teil des Eigennamens als Unterscheidung von PR = Public Releations)
“Kantate” ist das lateinische Wort für "Gesang"/"etwas Gesungenes"/"Singstück", ursprünglich aus der Kirchenmusik. Es spiegelt die Einflüsse aus der Klassik und den melodiösen Gesangs- und Rapstil wider.
Der geschützte Begriff "Berlingua", den er selbst seinem Sprech- und Gesangsstil verlieh, spiegelt die Eigenständigkeit und Heimatverbundenheit Kantates wieder, die für ihn wichtige Werte seiner Musik darstellen. Hierbei geht es jedoch nicht nur um Berlin- Hype! Im Gegenteil: Rap und Gesang in allen möglichen Dialekten, Mundarten und Jargons sind P.R.Kantates Vision – als selbstbewusstes Äquivalent zu Jamaican Patois und American Slang.
P.R. Kantate komponiert, arrangiert und textet eigene Lieder, hat aber auch eine große Vorliebe für Coverversionen und Bearbeitungen. Er produziert seine Aufnahmen teils alleine, teils in Zusammenarbeit mit anderen Produzenten (z.B. Robert Ohm, Don Krutscho, Kraans de Lutin, Masive Sound, Monojo, Knutson). Heraus kommt dabei eine bunte Musikmischung aus Reggae, Oldschool-HipHop, Pop, Rock und Gassenhauern; ein Akt musikalischer Voltigierkunst, ein Hürdenritt über Stilgrenzen und Szenegräben hinweg. Bei diesem abenteuerlichen Ritt entsteht eine ganz eigene Musik, die wohl am ehesten in deutschen Dancehall-Reggae einzuordnen ist. Live ist das ganze je nach Gegebenheit mit Band, Soundsystem (DJ), Akustikset oder Big Band- Orchester zu erleben.
2003 landete P.R. KANTATE mit "GÖRLI GÖRLI" einen Sommerhit, der es über 9 Wochen auf Platz 1 der Regionalcharts und in den deutschen Singlecharts bis in die Top 50 schaffte.
