Eye In The Sky
P.S.I.distortion Lyrics

Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴  Line by Line Meaning ↴

But you can't stay here
Its my mind I fear
I feel I'm loosing control
With you

And the skies in your eyes
They don't lie
They tell me everything
About whats inside
Of your mind
They tell me everything

Is it yes or no?
Will you stay or will you go?
Then I look at you
And I know......

Cause the skies in your eyes
They don't lie
They tell me everything
About what's inside
Of your mind
They tell me everything

Take my hand
Follow me
Don't look back
Its supposed to be

Just hold tight
This is right
Cause I know
Your with me....

And the skies in your eyes
They don't lie
They tell me everything
About whats inside

Of your mind
They tell me everything......

Overall Meaning

In P.S.I.distortion's song Eye in the sky, the artist reflects on the harsh realities of life in the ghetto and the struggles faced by its inhabitants. The opening lyrics express the artist's belief that his adversaries are plotting on his death, but he puts his life in God's hands and refuses to run from his problems. He speaks about the importance of finding ways to be stress-free and how sometimes the only way to achieve that is by taking a break and getting away. The chorus then speaks to this idea of escaping to a better place, questioning whether there is a ghetto in the sky that they can all go to where they can leave behind the violence, poverty, and oppression of their current surroundings.

The second verse delves deeper into the struggles faced by those living in the ghetto. The artist questions how many tears his mother will cry and how many caskets she will buy before they all realize that they are born to die. He speaks to the pervasive nature of drug addiction and gang violence in his community and the toll it takes on its inhabitants. The artist reflects on his own troubled past, including being in and out of jail and on probation and parole, and how he is trying to change his life to avoid dying as a sinner. He questions whether the police truly protect and serve and reflects on the stark differences between the inner city and the suburbs.

Overall, Eye in the sky is a powerful commentary on the struggles of life in the ghetto and the importance of finding ways to escape its harsh realities. The artist speaks to the pervasiveness of violence and drug addiction, as well as the systemic oppression faced by those living in impoverished communities. The song serves as a reminder that while these struggles are immense, there is always hope for a better future.

Don't think sorry's easily said
Don't try turning tables instead
You've taken lots of chances before
But I'm not gonna give anymore, don't ask me
That's how it goes
Cause part of me knows what you're thinkin'

Don't say words you're gonna regret
Don't let the fire rush to your head
I've heard the accusation before
And I ain't gonna take anymore, believe me
The Sun in your eyes
Made some of the lies worth believing

I am the eye in the sky looking at you
I can read your mind
I am the maker of rules, dealing with fools
I can cheat you blind
And I don't need to see any more to know that

I can read your mind (looking at you)
I can read your mind (looking at you)
I can read your mind (looking at you)
I can read your mind (looking at you)

Don't leave false illusions behind
Don't cry I ain't changing my mind
So find another fool like before
Cause I ain't gonna live anymore believing
Some of the lies while all of the signs are deceiving

I am the eye in the sky looking at you
I can read your mind
I am the maker of rules, dealing with fools
I can cheat you blind
And I don't need to see any more to know that

I can read your mind (looking at you)
I can read your mind (looking at you)
I can read your mind (looking at you)
I can read your mind (looking at you)

I am the eye in the sky looking at you
I can read your mind
I am the maker of rules, dealing with fools
I can cheat you blind
And I don't need to see any more to know that

I can read your mind (looking at you)
I can read your mind (looking at you)
I can read your mind (looking at you)
I can read your mind (looking at you)

The Alan Parsons Project - Eye in the Sky (1982) Lyrics: July 17, 2021
Don't think sorry's easily said
Don't try, turnin' tables instead
You've taken lots of chances before
But I ain't gonna give anymore

Don't ask me
That's how it goes
'Cause part of me knows what you're thinkin'

Don't say words you're gonna regret
Don't let the fire rush to your head
I've heard the accusation before
And I ain't gonna take any more

Believe me
The sun in your eyes
Made some of the lies worth believing

I am the eye in the sky, looking at you
I can read your mind
I am the maker of rules, dealing with fools
I can cheat you blind

And I don't need to see any more
To know that

I can read your mind (looking at you)
I can read your mind (looking at you)
I can read your mind (looking at you)
I can read your mind

Don't leave false illusion behind
Don't cry, I ain't changing my mind
So find another fool like before
'Cause I ain't gonna live anymore

Believing
Some of the lies
When all of the signs are deceiving

I am the eye in the sky, looking at you
I can read your mind
I am the maker of rules, dealing with fools
I can cheat you blind

And I don't need to see any more
To know that

I can read your mind (looking at you)
I can read your mind (looking at you)
I can read your mind (looking at you)
I can read your mind

I am the eye in the sky, looking at you
I can read your mind
I am the maker of rules, dealing with fools
I can cheat you blind

And I don't need to see any more
To know that

I can read your mind (looking at you)
I can read your mind (looking at you)
I can read your mind (looking at you)
I can read your mind...
